Cheech - Adoption Pending!
Through no fault of his own, this 2–3-year-old black beauty found himself in a scary place - a high kill shelter in Jefferson Parish, in Louisiana. Being black in coloring, the color least adopted, Cheech's life was in danger. We will never know where this sweet boy spent the first years of his life. It is apparent that he was once someone’s pet and was even microchipped, but his owner was not to be found.
Cheech charms everyone he meets and will sit for a treat, shake hands/paws, and roll over for a belly rub. He has a great temperament and has never met a stranger. Cheech will greet you with a look that seems to say "Hi, I’m Cheech – SO nice to meet you!" This young fellow has an energy level appropriate for a dog his age and will need an adopter who can provide him with adequate exercise, activities, and companionship. In return, Cheech will give you his unconditional love, 24/7, 365!
Cheech has spent time with a trainer in the south who has really helped him become the very best boy - and Cheech is now CGC certified!! (See details below the photos.) Just watch this fine fellow show off some of his skills in this video! While his teeth are slightly too big for his mouth, Cheech truly grins from ear to ear. He has a magnificent smile and is very expressive! He is a talker too, vocalizing with various sounds to express his emotions. It's really rather endearing. :-)
Cheech weighs around 70 lbs, and don't tell him we said this, but he could take off a few pounds to look his best! He walks nicely on the leash so perhaps his adopter and Cheech might take off some winter weight together. :-) He is good with other dogs, would enjoy playing with older children, but has no known history with cats. He has been brought up-to-date on vaccinations, is microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. Cheech has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention.
If you have it in your heart to give a gorgeous guy a loving and forever home, please consider CGC certified Cheech. He will be ready to travel north in mid-January to be adopted. Please contact Cheryl if you are approved to adopt through SGRR. If not yet approved, please fill out an application. He is the most loving guy you will ever meet, and the most wonderful thing about Cheech is his heart and spirit. Take a look at this video of Cheech in action!
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun.
