Happy Tails 2025!

Ladee

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Ladee (we are spelling her name Lady) has turned our lives upside down! We’ve only known geriatric, three-legged loving for the past few years!😊 She has so much energy, Venus just doesn’t know what to do with her (and she’s aways trying to clean Venus’ ears). Lady has yet to have an accident which I’m amazed at. Lady likes to hug and enjoys sitting on the kitchen table, so she begins her etiquette class on April 10. We are working on her leash skills as well. She loves meeting all the neighborhood dogs. Even Silas, a Pointer that likes NO ONE and barks at everyone, likes her. They were bopping noses yesterday. Doing stairs threw her for a loop but she almost has that mastered. Bert & Ernie, our cats, are starting to venture out from their hiding places but as soon as she catches a glimpse of them, she gets so excited and scares them away. So that’s going to take some time. She loves to be loved and is just perfect. She brought life and laughter back into our house (with a touch of chaos) after our Miss Mhina left us. Thank you all for making this happen for our family. I just love my Sunshine girls!  ~ Alicia

Beckett

Beckett seems to be settling in very nice. He’s a very curious and loving dog and we look forward to many memories with him. Thank you all for helping out and the work you do!  ~ Adam

Laihla

Laihla, who is now Tori, is doing great!  She is loving, eager to please and is really smart!  She is very relaxed, and I do think she knows she is home!   She is conquering her fear of cats, and now knows, Casey is all hiss and no action!  She and Desi are getting along well, and Tori has been very respectful and gives him space when her zoomies get a little crazy!  We are working on house training and realize gates are not going to keep this little lady in one place!   She loves to jump over gates! There may be a crate in her future especially when we head out! She loves her stuffed toys and chewies and so far has been very respectful to furniture! She is eating well, and we are all bonding and learning from each other every day.  She loves her walks and does well on the leash.  She met our daughters today and she was the perfect little lady, greeting them warmly while trying really hard not to jump up.  I want to thank Sunshine and all the volunteers for bringing this special dog into our life.  ~ Margie

Caleb

Things are going great. Caleb definitely is still a bit cautious, but he’s made himself at home sitting on the coach with me. We’ve even earned some of the little licks Tina (his foster mom up North) mentioned.  Caleb and Ellie are doing well - they were just snuggled next to each other a few minutes ago. She’s still hoping for him to play with her, but that will come I’m sure. ~ Alex & Bailey

Teddie

She is doing great. What a sweet dog! She’s having a lot of fun in snow. She is eating ok though did not finish all of her dinner maybe due to all the changes for her. Will keep an eye on this. She is sleeping through the night, lots of walks and cuddles. ~ Meghan

Marvin

Happily Adopted!
We are making some progress. He’s sleeping a bit better. He goes between his bed and the bedroom couch. He had a few pee accidents, but now we are learning a new routine so far today - no accidents.  We also left him free roam this morning when my husband drove me to the bus station. He was totally fine. He was sleeping on the sofa when he got back. We think he is adjusting it just takes time and patience. We really want this to work for Marvin. We do think professional training will be needed but that will need to wait a few weeks as we don’t want to overwhelm. He saw his 1st deer pass by our backyard. He was beyond excited.  ~ Gilda & Ed

Mya

Mya has found her forever home in Rhode Island with Mary & Donna, who are prior adopters.  She has a 3-year-old sibling named Ruthie who she enjoys playing with.  We are settling in well! Mya is such a love!  ~ Mary

Rudy

Thank you for bringing us Rudy!  He is probably the sweetest dog we have ever had.  He wants nothing more than to be close to his humans and thinks he is a lapdog.  As soon as any of us sit down, he is right there to cuddle.  He fit right in with Charlie, our other dog, and I love watching them race around the backyard.  We definitely need to work on his leash skills but so far, we are having a blast exploring the neighborhood.  Thank you to everyone who helped bring Rudy to us.
