Tiffany

Happily Adopted!
She is just perfect - sweet and so good-natured. Ruffy, like the rest of us, is completely captivated with her.  She is so tiny but fills the room with her smile and tail wags.  Welcome home happy little girl!  ~Will, Christina, & family

Buffy

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She's such a good girl and is adjusting every day by leaps and bounds.  She’s really enjoying her walks but still a little skittish getting used to the new sights and sounds.  She seems to like the beach but is still a little scared of the sounds the waves make!  She is very well-loved in the office and sleeps soundly next to me.  Every so often she'll do her rounds to everyone to make sure she gets pet by all.  Such a sweetie!  ~Niels

Magic & Mickey

Picture
 Happily Adopted!
They really are special dogs! So gentle and calm. Magic is so sweet and lovable and Mickey just this week showed me how much he trusted me to keep him safe on our walks.  ~Glenn

Raine

Happily Adopted!
Didn't take her long to figure out her spot in the kitchen. We left the door open and she's now taking a well-deserved nap. Thank you for all your help.  ~Carol and Mike

Happily Adopted!

He's settling in well and we love him!   He seems relieved to be at home.  Catching up on sleep.  He is going to be gorgeous when he's well again!  Thank you for everything.  ~Tracy, Jim, & family

Max & Molly

Picture
Happily Adopted
They are wonderful!!!  They LOVED the snow!!!  Max plows through it pushing his head all the way under, then comes up and does it again!  They are playing with their toys, and took to the house comfortably in no time.  We are over the moon!  Everyone at Sunshine is so wonderful, including the volunteers who came to transport on a snowy day to help us meet Max and Molly.  Thanks so much to everyone.  ~Carylyn

Ebony

Picture

Happily Adopted!
Ebony is doing great!  She must have been traumatized by being abandoned and ending up in a shelter.  She is so awesome and smart and I'm so happy to report that she does know commands - sit, down, stay, and come!  We walk everyday and she heels beautifully.  She is a special little dog and we are so happy she joined our family. Thank you for all of your help, and for all of the good work you do!  ~Kim & Dan

Mandi

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Mandi is such a sweet and gentle girl.  Everything went fine at transport, they were only a half hour behind schedule.  It was a cold and windy, I’m so glad the doggy coat that I bought her fit!  Mandi ate very good yesterday and this morning.  She slept all night and no accidents at all.  We love her even more than I could imagine!  Even my cat Nala approves of her!  Mandi is loving all the love and attention, she is just soaking it all up.  ~Dawn, Mike, & Dan

Clarence

Picture
Happily Adopted!
It is going extremely well from my perspective.  He slept on our bed last night with the other dogs and snuggled.  He's eating his food and cookies.  Taking queues from the resident dogs for behavior.  He's doing his business outside, no problem.  We are keeping the name Big Bear and calling him Bear. He responds well to "Bear Bear." He is very gentle and curious.
~Nicole & Jeff

Morgan

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Wow - what a big, handsome guy he is!   The pick-up went great, Nancy (a Sunshine volunteer) met us there- she was lovely.  We're now walking him around the house and he's had some water but not interested in snacks yet!  Our daughter is head over heels in love with the big guy!  He's such a love .... feels like family already.  ~Linda & Ed

Monte

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Monte is doing fine.  He is a very gentle and affectionate boy.  I just took him for a walk in the snow.  We didn’t get too much but enough to stick – he enjoyed it.  Now I have him resting, trying to build him up slowly.  He will be a fine addition to our family!  ~Carol & Mike

Happily Adopted!
She is a love!!!!   She is happy and so good!!  She explored the back yard on the leash and did her pee.  Had a little snack and some water and is now sleeping in the dinning room--think she likes the carpet.   It’s so great to have a dog again.  We appreciate everything that all of you at Sunshine have done for us!  ~Barbara & Martin

Major

Happily Adopted!
Happy to report Major is adjusting well.  He even realizes our cat is not a dog as he meows rather than barks. Thanks to the entire awesome SGRR team who brought this bundle of joy into our lives!

Happily Adopted!
My name is Ashley and I was rescued by some awesome people in Alabama.  They took such great care of me and sent me for surgery on my hip and to my forever home with a family in Connecticut.  My new mom was so worried about my hip dysplasia that she takes me to physical therapy and I do some fun stuff.  My mom really appreciates all the work everyone did at Sunshine to get grant money for me to keep going for therapy.  We know how expensive it is - and just wanted to send puppy kisses and hugs from my mom too.  You can't imagine how great it is to have my own family.  My mom takes me and my sister "Princess"(also a rescue) everywhere she goes.  This is great because I love car rides and although I am not comfortable swimming yet I'm sure to love it when my mom will go in with me.  My other brother (Blizzy) left our family suddenly (my mom cried for a few days) but he is in heaven now.  We all miss him.  Yesterday mom took me to a class so that I will learn a few manners and not be so shy when I meet other dogs.  We did pretty good and the nice lady instructor said we did well.  It was fun and I got lots of treats.  Shhh, it's really my mom and dad who need training and I made sure my mom got a cookie too.

I just wanted to tell you how happy i am and how my family loves me.  I can sleep easy now and been having good dreams too.  Please tell everyone that my new family loves me and I owe my life to all your kindness and care.

Much love,
Ashley and my mom & dad - Cathy & Jim.

John

Picture

Happily Adopted!
Just wanted to let you know that everything is going great!!! We changed John's name to Max.  He is a very sweet boy and loves my children! He woke up once to go out during the night and has had one accident.  He loves to go for walks.  ~Foerster Family

Roger

Picture
Happily Adopted!
He’s everything we expected and more.  We LOVE him!  He’s so lovable, full of energy, and the kisses are endless.  The first night I wasn’t sure how he would do through the night, since he had peed in the house about 7 times already so I thought I would crate him. He wanted nothing to do with that, so I brought him into my bed and 30 seconds later he was on my chest snoring.  Didn’t move until my alarm went off the next morning.  Yes, I’d say he’s settling in.  ~Fekete Family

Matthew

She's very relaxed here, we think she feels safe.  She eats like a chow hound, no resource issues, sleeps like a lumberjack, and gets along really well with Gracie. She's a wonderful dog and it's going to be a great experience watching her thrive and adjust.  ~Mike & Anne

Lily

Happily Adopted!
So far everything is good.  She is getting used to the house and we are trying the trainer's tip about lying on her bed.  Had a long walk and she was quite good, but I still have to improve my technique but we will get there.  We think think she is super!  ~Ken & Nicole

Spring and I are continuing to settle in - she's a very sweet girl.  All went well at the vet.  Molly is snoring away next to me so I guess she's starting to relax.   My brother Chris fell for Molly/Spring - he leaned in to say goodbye and she gave him a big kiss!  ~Shannon

Ziva

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She has settled  in her new home nicely.   She loves to look at you for snacks when she is not curling up at the bottom of the couch with my husband & her new sister, Missy, who was also a rescue from OK.   They both like to go out and bark at people going by, but after a few minutes they are both waiting at the door to come in.  Thank you for all you do  in helping these dogs find their forever homes.  ~Gail & Bob

Sara & Rachel

Picture
Happily Adopted!
After two weeks of settling in, Sara & Rachel are doing great. Still haven't mastered indoor stairs, but have certainly mastered the affection of everyone.  When the UN is in session the fire fighters station their truck on the corner in case of an emergency, so Sara and Rachel have gotten to know them. While Rachel is a little more cautious, Sara always wants to pop in the truck. Yesterday they let her. Now she is a rescue dog in more ways than one!   ~Will B

Bullet

He is such a special boy. He immediately took to Cas and us. It's going to be perfect!  We are watching TV now. Chaka, now Bucky, is between Veronica and me, his face buried in my lap, snoozing it up. Cas is on the other side :) it's love!!   ~Jeff & Veronica

Carole

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Carole is now Sophie and she seems to be making herself right at home. She has bursts of high energy and then she relaxes. She's very friendly and loves to hang out with us. She's very fast and agile, almost like a cat! After being with so many different people the last several weeks, she needs to be with just  one family and that's what she's going to get!
~Rich & Tate

Hunny

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She is such a happy dog who LOVES us and has already learned her new name, Anna, and is starting to get "sit."  Anna and Caleb are getting along well and chasing each other, stealing toys from each other, and having some boisterous fun. Toby has already had enough of her even though he loved her at first. She is doing everything right though; licking their mouths, going belly up in submission.  ~Laurel & Heather

Thank you all for helping us find Anna and get her home. She was so good at the drop off and in the car. After a little food and water, she explored the fenced-in yard and now is relaxing in her new bed. We are already blessed to have her.  Having the SGRR volunteers there this morning was a big help!  ~Alfredo & Amy

Arabella

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Bella acts like a puppy and we are happy to have her in our pack of pets.  Right now Bella is asleep on the couch next to me, a rare moment of inactivity for her.  We have started working with a wonderful trainer.  Bella is a fast learner. Bella no longer walks us down the street as the trainer has trained us to be in control!  Andrea and I are so thankful for the services of Sunshine Rescue!
~Peggy & Andrea

Gentle Ben

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Gentle Ben is home and taking it all in and making himself at home.  He got to meet his granddog KoKo and they love each other, last night they hung out in the sun room together.  Everyone has been stopping in to see him and he is just loving it...sticks to me like glue...loving it!!!!!  He has learned to go up and down the stairs, and sleeps all night in my bedroom.  Thank you so so much for everything.   Ben is a great dog!  ~Patricia D

Dixie

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Dixie, now called Reilly is the sweetest.  She loves to be kissed and I can't stop kissing her.  She has accepted us as her family just great.  Shes has been exceptional in side the house - no messes - no chewing - no damage.  Outside - well shes a hand full.  She runs-runs-runs like there's a race.  She has discovered so many new foods - you can tell shes never had before -  we are still working on milk bones.  She puts them away rather then eat them - I found 5 stuck in the couch cushion.   Thank you!  ~Kelly & Peter

Jockamo

Saving Grace

Picture

Gracie had a great first night ... although I slept as if I had a newborn in the house!  She's been roaming the yard, curious about what's on the other side of the fence but not willing to venture out just yet.  All is well. Thanks for all your help and concern. Will keep you posted!  ~Janet &  Mike

He held my hand the whole ride home and hasn't stopped giving us little kisses.  Thanks so much for all of your help in finding our  new family member.  Sunshine has been really amazing to work with.   ~Bonnie & Kevin

Autumn

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Arrived home today about 2:30 PM. Autumn is a great traveler, slept most of the way. The other times she was trying to get our attention. She LOVES ATTENTION. She likes the yard and being able to run without being tied on. She is a sweet girl and in the words of my daughter in law (who run a kennel near Albany), beautiful, and just the right size.  I will keep you posted as she becomes one of our family.  ~Bob & Rachel

Bragi & Jaeger

Picture
It was both a sad and happy week for our bonded NTI senior Goldens, Bragi and Jaeger.  We were heartbroken when Bonded Brother Bragi became ill just two days after arriving at the vet clinic in MA and we lost him to a splenetic tumor.  He touched so many hearts in those two days and we are so saddened by his loss.

Jaeger stayed at the vet clinic in Scituate, MA, where he was spoiled and kept busy greeting people and dogs, to ease the loss of his life-long buddy.  Then Linda and Dick entered his life, falling in love with him the minute they met him and he is now happily adopted!  From Dr. Hopey:  Buckles is off to New Hampshire. Ed and Linda are awesome. Buckles jumped right in the car with his favorite toy in his mouth to start his new adventure.

After going through a very difficult time, we believe each of these wonderful Goldens is where he now belongs — Bragi in heaven with his human Mom, and Buckles with his new family where he will always have someone with him.   Many thanks to all who helped this sweet bonded pair.

We have fallen in love with Gulliver. Everyone who meets him thinks he is going to be a great dog and so do we.   He is wonderful in the house.  Although we have three beds for him, he prefers to sleep with us in ours! I hope someday he’ll sleep on one of his own beds, if this makes him feel secure, it’s fine with us.   He seems to be starting to turn the corner and feel safe with us.  ~Jan & John

Orso has made a great transition. He basically spent most of the day outside with Stella and the family with a few naps in his crate. He is happy, playful and is doing great on sitting when asked. He is definitely treat motivated! He has not had any accidents yet and has started to go to the door to go out. Not sure if it is a conscious decision on his part, but he does take care of business when we take him out.  ~McSally family

She slept through the night, has been out for a walk, and is giving out unsolicited kisses.  I have no doubt Mike & Anne will do whatever it takes to make this adoption work.  What a great happy ending for her.  She went to a family who had experience with this same issue and turned it around. This was the perfect placement for this baby!

Progress!  Mike walked Lucy 3 times yesterday and she is getting the hang of things. YES!  We are going to adopt her. Foxy (Allie) is great!  So gentle and affectionate.  I can't believe how well she walks on her leash.  We walk down Main St and the Village Green and people stop and stare.  She is good with the strangers she meets.  She and the two elderly Siamese are moving toward tolerance.  Can't wait to introduce her to the neighbor's dogs.  Thank you so much for finding Foxy for me.  ~Liz G

Maggie

Happily Adopted!
She is doing so well!!!!   She LOVES her walks outside, and loves to be outside as much as possible with us.  She seems to be completely housebroken.  We are very lucky to have her!!  After we realized how good she was with everyone she's met, and with the five dogs she's met this weekend, I couldn't imagine not keeping her!  ~Bibeault family

Candy

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Nylabones are a big hit.  She is settling in well.   She's such a sweet little peanut and so puppy-like, smacking me with a paw to gain my attention and mouthing my hand if I don't pay attention quickly enough.  This will be a great adventure!  ~Mary Cate

Sadie

Picture

Happily Adopted!

She is beautiful inside and out, and silky.  We have fallen for her. Marvin wags his tail as does Sunshine rescue Tucker who lives next door. She fits right in as if an old hand and comes over for rubs behind the ear. She sat on my foot and seems so happy here - much wagging of that plume of a tail. Thank you so very much for sweet Sadie, who has given and received many kisses already!  ~Bob & Terry

Atticus

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Just wanted to let you know that Atticus did fine on his first day.  He LOVES being outside, sniffing around and exploring.  He did fine on his "home alone" test, leaving him in the house for a few minutes, and going back inside to show him we will be back. He just made himself at home.  He is just so sweet!!  When we come home, and he sees us through the glass slider door, his whole body wags! What a nice way to be greeted. Thanks, Sunshine, for all you do for these wonderful dogs.  ~Cowhig family

Siri

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She is doing great. She fits right in with other two dogs and Duggy (the hyper one) is already following her around and letting her take the lead - meaning she is calming him.  She has adapted unbelievably well as evidenced by the picture of her resting on our back deck with the other two dogs. Also she loves to play with both dogs!
~Ed & Kathy

Myia

Picture

Happily Adopted!

She's fantastic!  She is the sweetest girl.  Myia and Seamus get along great as well.  Super excited to have her as part of our pack.   She was so sleepy after transport and an afternoon of romping with big brother Seamus that she feel asleep on the kitchen floor.  Thanks again!

Things are going really well. He is a sweetheart. Playful and he loves my Teddy although Teddy isn't sure what to think of him.  I gave him a bath and his coat is so shiny.  He knows sit and gives his paw! Since we got home his tail is up and wagging and he has already gotten comfy on the dog bed.  He is a cuddler for sure.  Thank you, thank you,  thank you!  ~B Kenney

Honey

Happily Adopted!

We are home with Honey and she just fits right in!  Like she's always been here.  Loves the kids and is doing great with Briscoe!  She is wonderful!  ~Hutchinson/Murgolo family

Dallas

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Well, add one more male to the  household!  Dallas made himself at home pretty quickly, taking advantage of the many toys and comfy doggie bed in our sun-room.  He was thrilled to meet his new sister, Holly, and they took a long fun walk together this afternoon around the neighborhood with nothing but happy tail-wagging and lots of new smell adventures.  I can’t thank you enough for bringing this bundle of sunshine into our lives. We are already madly in love with him.  I hope our relationship with SGRR continues for years to come.  ~Marciniec family

Happily Adopted!
What a love bug.  Kisses, Cuddles, leaning, napping, he is a joy!  We took him for few regular walks today and then one long one.  We are so glad to have him.  He is just beautiful.  Great personality.  Him and Summer are doing really good. ~Shaw family

Daisy

"I feel love!"

Happily Adopted!
Daisy is settling right in. She was nervous on the way home but I sat with her in the back of the SUV where I bunched up a quilt and a new soft toy. She was pretty quiet but as we got near home she started to play with the toy and leaned on me and licked my face. I think she' s doing really well!  Thank you!   ~Bonnie & Terry

Whisper

Picture
Whisper & Golden sister, Brinkley
Happily Adopted!
Whisper & Brinkley are doing wonderfully. Neither one of them likes to be alone so they just keep each other company. Brinkley has been whining constantly since Arlo passed away, but hardly at all since Maxi came. We all are totally in love with her already!  ~Demartini family

Happily Adopted!

She really likes my bed and spent her first night there!  She had a bath and a nice walk, and she has explored every nook and cranny of her house and yard.  I’m so happy to have her!  ~ Kathy

Beauty

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She is laying on her bed right behind me as I am working at computer, chewing on her bone.  Made it through the night - excellent. No accidents.  She's loving running around the back yard. There are now 5 tennis balls at the bottom of the hill that's she's been playing with. She carries them back up the hill and then they start rolling on their own and she's after them. We are laughing with our forever Raven!!!   ~McDonald/ Cereghino family

Beka

Picture
Happily Adopted!
We feel so blessed! Lia (aka Beka) is doing very well! She and Ellie get along so well and are incredibly tired today! We are so grateful to you, Kay, and Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue for rescuing Lia!  ~Patmore family

Merlin

Picture

Happily Adopted!

Merlin is settling in and seems happy. We are so very happy!!!! We are keeping Merlin's name but with a twist: his name will be Merlin 2 Sunshine Frattaroli. We will call him Sunny. We are doing that  to honor the dog that Merlin was named for and to honor SGRR for all the great work that your organization & volunteers do. Everyone has been just so helpful from the beginning of our adoption journey to today with meeting Merlin and taking him home!  Thank you all for making this such a wonderful experience.  We are so very happy and look forward to a wonderful life with Sunny.  ~Frattaroli family

Lindsey

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She was almost perfect in the puppy social. She's still a little shy, but did got along wonderfully with several puppies and with an adult dog.   Buddha has changed from "get away" to "mildly interested," while Lindsay is picking up on his signals and reacting appropriately.  She is already fitting in as part of the family!  ~Goebelbecker family

Misty & Sagittarius

Picture
Happily Adopted!
They're both so sweet, they follow me around the house all day as close to my heels as they can get!  I think they'll give me a little more space as they continue to get comfy here and I don't mind.  They have no problems going up or down the stairs. We have a finished basement where Clay’s office is. He was down there doing work and they kept going back and forth to check on him.  So cute!  They're very affectionate and actually pretty high energy for their ages.~ Kim

Hank

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Looks like Hank is on the road to becoming a therapy dog! My mom was so smitten at our visit. The main rec area was FULL of people when we got there because of a singer, and Hank just wanted to greet everyone!! Full of wags and wiggles! No fears of wheelchairs or walkers.  Hank loves his stuffies! Even the ones that are bigger than he is!   Hank is one special and unique little dude!  ~Kumpf family

Goldie

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She's such a good girl!  Goldie, now called Riese, and Lexie are two peas in a pod with our cat as the third wheel. He loves her too! Riese gave him a good sniffing her first night, he head butted her in the face, she licked him in the face, and they've been buddies since!  She is still gaining her confidence and settling in nicely.  We can't ask for anything more. She is my shadow, listens very well, just wants to please, and melts into you as soon as you pet her.  She's a doll.   ~Tegtmeyer family

Moxie & Mojo

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Just got back with the kiddos from a 2 mile walk. It took a long time as exploration was the main agenda! Both of them are lying down at my feet here. I know they are tired, & as Kay says, “A tired dog is a good dog!”  These kiddos are beautiful souls!  Thank you, again, for all the work and love you put into Sunshine Rescue. With your help, my family now feels complete, and I am happy!  ~ Silchenko family

Hedde

Happily Adopted!

Willow is very happy to have a new sister and Hedde is following her all over.  She is Jeanne's shadow too.  She is doing fine and we know she is a gift to us!  ~Lyle family

Bear

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Bear is now in the double digits at 98 lbs! Slowly but surely we will get him to the right weight.  Jim is working with Bear on his leash skills and we are really working with Eddie’s program.  Bear is a big love and spends his time rolling around in the snow or taking a little nap.  We love him so much!  ~McCall family

Sparkle

Picture
Happily Adopted!
She's doing great.  She had a nice nap after her long journey and explored the house.  She is nicely establishing some boundaries with our dog, Cub, who loves her too much right now. All is good    She is a mighty beautiful little girl!  ~DeFranco/Bonansinga

We all arrived safely around 11 a.m.  You would never know that Chloe had been riding in cars for the past 24 hours.  She is taking to the house well and eating very well.  What a precious, resilient dog she is! She is bringing us so much joy already.  She is a love.  Thank you!!!  ~Bianca family

Copper and Corina have arrived safely home!  They are sweet and wonderful and Chloe is ok, too.   They chose to sleep in the living room next to each other on the new beds. They're wonderful!

Dixie

Happily Adopted!
Dixie is absolutely beautiful!  She follows us everywhere and is beginning to relax.  Last night she slept the whole night next to our bed, and she even took herself to bed ahead of us!  We are looking forward to a sunny day tomorrow to take for her on some nice walks and continue getting her used to her home.  We are so happy!   ~Dube family

Gus

Happily Adopted!
We're  all relaxing. Gus is the cutest.  He's  already stolen our hearts. He was all kisses on the way home. THANK YOU.  ~Ouelette family

Ramsey

Picture
Happily Adopted!
Ramsey is quite the dog!   I don't think he's  more then 2 years old, very much a puppy.   He and I are learning about each other, definitely a long term bonding session. We start training  this up coming week.  He only knows  "no" for commands.  He is slowly getting to know the routine of Kate and I in such a short time. He's is tall and very beautiful.  We thank you!  We  will keep in touch as the weeks go on, with pics also. ~Lepak family

Maggie

Picture
Happily Adopted!
When I came downstairs this morning Maggie was sleeping on the couch in the living room. She is kind of like Goldilocks - trying to find her favorite chair or sofa. We gave her a bath in the garage this morning, blowed dried her and she is now sleeping again. Hopefully the sun will come out tomorrow and we can get outside for a couple of walks. We absolutely love her.  ~Nycek family
