Happy Tails 2022!
Winston
Happily Adopted!
Just love him to pieces already. Sept through the night and is just a love. His siblings, especially Sandy, love him too. He's just amazing. He already has the routine down. Loves his food and sleep and he deserves every bit of it. I think between the two of us, he's gotten about 50 kisses and he just melts. Thank you for choosing us. ~ Annie and Marion

Happily Adopted!
Letting you know that he is settling in nicely and is improving his vocabulary. My family really enjoys him as well. We went for our first
car ride to my dad’s house around the corner. He loves them and understands I’m the care taker. He is listening more and more each day. He got a bath this weekend and spent the bulk of the weekend outside because this weather is just phenomenal. Blake loves the tufts of fur coming from the bottom of his paws. He is going for more leash walks and is doing better. He’s getting into the swing of things pretty well. ~ Kelly

Happily Adopted!
Ali is a joy to have around. She is starting to feel like she is home. She is a thief but in the cutest way. When I leave her, she gathers all my shoes available around the house and brings them to her bed. When I come home she is excited to see me and nervous that I might scold her for taking my shoes but I think it is a adorable. She is wanting to spend more time outside smelling her yard and just sitting enjoying the view. She looks forward to meal time. Her food dance is adorable. ~ Cathy

Chief
Happily Adopted!
Although it’s only been a short time everything is going great! Chief is a super sweet, awesome dog and every day a bit more of his personality and playfulness is coming out as he realizes he’s home.
He loves his new toys, he always greets me with a wagging tail and a toy in mouth & lately when we go outside to play he’s been carrying one of his favorites out with him. He enjoys our walks, hanging out in the yard and he also loved the beach. We recently went for a walk along the water and he was taking in all the new surroundings. He was also super excited to meet one of his cousins, another black Lab. Thank you for everything - appreciate it and also to his foster Pam & husband who were so kind and everyone at Sunshine! We love Chief and are so lucky to have him as part of our family!!! ~ Kara

Happily Adopted!
They are doing very well! They’re exploring everything and seem to enjoy just wandering around the back yard. They are also making themselves very comfortable and at home. Thanks for checking in. ~ Sue & Michael

Franklin
Happily Adopted!
Things are going very well. The first couple of days were a little intense, but we have all settled into our routines and it's very clear that Franklin has found his home. He reminds us of the Tasmanian devil - he's constantly jumping in the air and trying to give everyone kisses. He and Oliver have become fast friends, and love to wrestle and chase each other around. The girls are tolerating him, which is what we expected - he's got a little too much energy for their taste. Thank you for giving
us the opportunity to adopt this little guy! ~ Jessica & Shane

Blackjack
Happily Adopted!
He is adorable, settling in, loves, no adores, Peanut (SGRR's Trey)! Likes the cats who allow him to get close. Sleeps on my yoga mat. Sits in my little goldfish pond. And he’s my shadow. He is so nervous I will leave him! He hates to go outside unless I go too. Trying to keep him from getting
too active is a challenge. I keep calling TIME OUT! Thank you again!!! ~ Kathryn

Lang
Happily Adopted!
We’ve had a busy weekend! Lang, now named Banjo, is settling in nicely. After an initiation by the cats, he quickly learned that he can stick his nose into anything and everything except their food. He is such a curious boy, particularly about smells. He will stand in the yard and lift his nose to the air, taking it all in. We say, “It smells like fall”, so we can only imagine how different and exciting these smells are to his southern nose. All his systems are working. His appetite is good, his output is normal. His favorite place-already-is the couch, and he loves the yard. We go for a short walk every day, but are working to keep things calm and quiet for a few days. We have a vet appointment next week. Thanks again for this lovely, affectionate dog! Will keep you updated. ~ Linda and Jay

Tucker
Happily Adopted!
Tucker is doing great. He is a very smart boy, and the last two-three days have been really good. We have been training him in little things like lay down, paw, things like that and he is getting it very quickly. He even puts himself to bed every night at 10pm, so he understands our routine. Our training with Ray was very informative and Ray showed us some exercises like heel and how to teach Tucker to put down food/objects. I have been doing the heeling exercise 4x a day with Tucker. We have been working on walking and how to assert myself as the leader. I think the whole experience with Ray went very well and I was very impressed with him and it was great working with him. ~ Kendall & Umang

Trevor
Happily Adopted
Trevor, now Harvey, is just as described-always wagging his tail, friendly to everyone, happy to pass by the cats, sleeps in my bed (that wasn't on the website) and, after one day of Hope being a little out of sorts, has become her good buddy. They play ball and tug of war in the morning and he jumps on her all the time. She is really worn out but never gets mad so I think she secretly doesn't mind. He is a great eater and has already learned to wait for his bowl and not to try to grab Hope's food. He knows how to sit but can't stop wagging his tail and wiggling his butt so has trouble staying seated. He is so nice that we don't mind that he secretly has chewed on the corners of the coffee table. I am attaching a photo of him playing outside--he is bringing a toy back to Hope. And, of course he passed his vet visit with flying colors. We love him and are so grateful that you gave us a chance to adopt him. I think Hope loves him too. ~ Ellen & Bill

Barnacle
Happily Adopted!
Barnacle is doing so much better. He loves strolling around the backyard and seems to be a lot more relaxed. Follows me around the house getting his steps in. 😉Eating fine as well. He will live his best life here with us. He and Sandy do really well together. I’ve been working from home, so he’s been getting special attention. He’s going to be great. Thanks for all you do. ~ Marion

Boyington
Happily Adopted!
Thank you to Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue for saving this amazing guy! Boyington, now Beau (which means loving companion), stole my heart before ever entering my home! He is sweet, gentle, and funny! He also is the best friend to my 5 1/2 year old SGRR rescue, Gabby, mine since 2018. It's been a challenge to be a Mom of 2 at times, but we're a family, and I'm so lucky and grateful. ~ Jackie

Winnie
Happily Adopted!
Everything went well with the meet and greet. We took the ferry home with her; she was very nervous on the ferry with loud sounds around her and wanted to be in her crate!! She slept all night! We got up around 7, let her out, and she went to the bathroom right away outside. She seems to be settling in okay and exploring the house and yard. She is going to the Vet Friday morning. We'll keep in touch. She is a beautiful dog! ~ Chris & Ann Marie

Laney
Happily Adopted!
Laney, now Leia, is still very much afraid of everything and everyone. She’s warming up to me but not my husband yet. She talks all the time. We’ve got lot of work to do. She runs very fast and she can jump. She surprised me when she jumped up on the kitchen counter next to me. Wasn’t expecting that. My granddaughter calls her "fun-sized" because she is tiny, like my granddaughter! :-) She is the perfect size for us! Work in progress but we will get there! ~ Kathy & Lawrence

Archie
Happily Adopted!
Archie is extremely timid and shy of noise. I can’t believe what this poor boy must have gone through in his first four years. He’s afraid to eat - I have to prime him by hand feeding him at the start. I’ve switched to natural raw food and he seems to like it. We walk a couple of times a day - getting better on a leash. Although shy he’s friendly with people and other dogs. He and Maxwell (the cat) get along pretty well. He is a sweetheart but it will take time for him to blossom. Rescues are not easy but you can feel the love coming through. ~ Marie & Kenneth

Maggie
Happily Adopted!
Maggie is a treasure! She's so sweet and responsive to affection. She has shockingly good manners, no grabbing treats or anything at all aggressive. She’s not food motivated, so finding food and treats that she’ll eat was an experiment, but we have it now. She eats her meals in the am and pm with delicacy, one little piece at a time - very lady-like. She has bonded well with both Jim, me, and her little ‘lamb chop’ and her long pink doggie squeaky toy. Going upstairs to the bedroom was helped with new tread pads for traction. She now visits us on the bed for scratches and then sleeps nearby on her dog bed. Downstairs in the living room she uses her crate as her private room and as a passageway with both doors open. She loves being on the couch or the soft chair, or in this heat on the cooler wooden floor with the fan pointed her way. You and SGRR have given us such a joyous experience with her. I hope you feel that all of the care you gave to her forever placement was worth it. Our family feels whole again with her as a greatly loved part of it. ~ Linda & Jim

Bucky
Happily Adopted!
We have had a good day today, and last night too. He is still super excited about his new surroundings so we have taken lots of short walks in different directions. It is really hot and I am trying to keep him from getting stressed in any way, but he does love the walks. He slept all night on his bed, and retires there during the day when he is not with me. He loved the squeaky toy I bought him but destroyed it in 5 minutes so I am going to get something else for a super chewer. Eating well, drinking a lot, no accidents, no limping, not whining or barking like yesterday, and he's getting lots of hugs and "good boy" affirmations. My kitty, Cici, is making adjustments and trying to stay out of his reach. I think the two
of them will be OK as time goes on. ~ Martha

Geraldine
Happily Adopted!
She’s really doing well, falling into a routine. She seems happy with her tail always wagging. When someone comes home she gets all excited. Doesn’t seem to know how to play with the resident dogs or toys so I’m thinking she never really had anything. The cats are not alarmed by her at all…in fact she just ignores them. She seems confused as if to say is his really my place now? I’m sure in time she’ll figure out that yes, this is her forever home. I keep telling her that! I really love her already!
Can’t wait to take her on nice walks…when it’s not 95 degrees. Thanks for checking in. I’ll keep in touch. ~ Sue & Bill

Lola
Happily Adopted!
Cathie tells us Lola acted as if she had always known them. On her own, she climbed into their car and snuggled into her dog bed. She has explored almost the entire house and backyard. They took a walk around the neighborhood and she was great. She is a big smoocher and is already giving kisses. I think she feels like she is home. Lola is part of the family! She is glued to my side and is just great. She is a joy to have at home. The only thing that is surprising is being a Lab, she doesn’t seem to like water. Maybe that will change with time. ~ Cathie & Greg

Cotton & Sugar
Happily Adopted!
Lisa tells us the girls are doing well and adjusting. At first they were a little shy and skittish. The girls are sleeping well and starting to eat better. They really enjoy their biscuits and chicken jerky! Both girls initially found they liked Lisa's walk in closet to take a nap in. They are learning how to be good office buddies as Lisa works from home. Cotton & Sugar also have a new dog brother Harley, who has been very gracious to welcome them into his home. It will be rewarding to see how the 3 dogs will all become a family. They have found their forever home and are cared for and loved. ~ Lisa & Mark

Sugar
Happily Adopted!
We are completely in love with this adorable little girl and are so happy to have her as part of the family! Sugar has gone through an amazing transformation. She started out as a scared and protective pup, at times showing some fear aggression. Now with time, patience and training she has been able to unpack her baggage and be a sweet, affectionate, and playful pup. She has formed beautiful relationships and bonded with each of her humans very quickly. Sugar has become best buddies with Chico and is starting to bond and respect her senior sister Dixie. Sugar is a good eater and for an 18-month-old pup, sleeps through the night very well. She has learned to walk well on the leash and loves to go for a run with Dan. We have found that Sugar is a water baby! She loves going swimming and playing in her doggy pool and splash pad. I can’t thank SGRR enough for their support and choosing us to be Sugar’s family! ~ Dawn

Pluto
Happily Adopted!
We are totally amazed at how quickly Pluto has settled in! We’re just back from a morning walk. He’s found spots in our backyard to take care of business. He slept on his OWN bed and got up early with my husband. Then he came back upstairs to wake me at about 6:45! He’s falling right into our sleep schedule and has taken to a slightly modified morning/evening feeding schedule as well. And I can’t believe how well he walks on a leash! I like to keep him beside me rather than in front, so I’m working on keeping him from bumping into me, leaving a little distance between us. He is really a terrific dog! Overall, it’s been a wonderful start to his forever life! ~ Linda & Michael

Donald
Happily Adopted!
Good boy Gus (FKA Donald) came home to us this past Saturday and we are in love! He is reserved, observant, and just taking it all in right now as he gets to know us and Tory, our other SGGR rescue. Tory seems to be happy with him. The family fell in love at first sight. He’s just a bit timid and reserved at the moment. He’s eating well and has even asked to go outside when needed. We got him a crate and it’s definitely his safe space. We are hanging around the house for a few days hoping he will come out of his shell soon. We are so happy he’s ours! ~ Brian & Deb

Mickey
Happily Adopted!
Day one - He ate dinner, went for a walk, and explored the house. This morning he was comfortable but panting, drinking lots of water, probably because of panting. Seems to be getting used to us- we are prepared for this to take a couple of weeks for him to love us. By the way, he ate great for the first time this morning and took a toy into the crate which seems to be his safe space.
Update - Every day he is getting more comfortable, inside and outside. He has not had any inside potty ailments - twice a day outside. His panting is almost gone and we are weaning him off the anxiety pill.
1- He eats his dog food, but not any of (3) different treats we have tried.
2- He does not seem to have any interest in any toys (balls or pull toys.
3- He loves his crate (goes in and out at will), no barking at all and is still exploring outside on the long lead.
4- My grandson (17) loves him as we do. The twins (2 12.5 year olds) are still at camp and know nothing about Mickey and will be totally pleasantly surprised.
5- Vet visit is scheduled for July 25th. ~ Jerry & Lynne

Charlie
Happily Adopted!
I’m writing to thank you and update you on Charlie. He settled in quickly and Ash became the boss right away. Charlie was happy to let him be dominant and he takes his cues from and follows Ash everywhere. We learned at his vet check that he was 68 pounds and his ideal weight is somewhere between 70-75 to be “lean.” He also has a skin infection which was causing his dryness. He’s on an antibiotic and getting nice bubble baths every other day. He is so good when he gets washed and brushed. He is so good almost all the time! He walks nicely on his leash (only pulls when distracted). Nobody told Charlie that he has to be calm and on low exercise after his heartworm treatment! He trots around the house and throws his toys in the air. He is big enough to step onto the couch rather than jump and he really does think he’s a lap dog! He sleeps in a crate and knows the “bed” command even if he doesn’t feel like it. He will harrumph and lie down in there. Charlie loves our cat, Owen, but he just doesn’t know when he should stop playing. Charlie is one big, goofy guy. Because he is so big, and a little clumsy, he has gotten a few nicknames like Goliath, Charlie Horse, and Trigger. He’s so puppy-ish and playful and silly. He destroys toys and always has something in his mouth (another nickname-Destructo). Sometimes it’s a sock or a paper towel. The current favorite is the Kong tennis ball barbell. He is not only a beautiful dog, but he is friendly and loving. Imagine you’re on the couch and your dog walks over and puts his head on your chest… We are so grateful to Sunshine for helping us add furry family members. ~ Wendy & Bob

Comet
Happily Adopted!
We are great here - Comet is awesome! He is having fun and lots of running. He LOVES the yard & I am trying to teach him frisbee - he’s getting it down but not near 100%. I feel like he was meant to be - he literally settled in great and seems to know the “schedule”! He’s good - when my son comes home from HS he runs over and then they wrestle a little in the living room. My other 2 kids will be home from school in the next week and they can’t wait to play with him. I have been bringing him into their rooms so he can sniff around before meeting them. I tell him, “the kids will be here soon!” (I probably sound crazy). He hangs with my hubby on the couch at night bcz he’s the night owl - he lays on top of him! And Comet and Max are starting to really play - they chase each other in the yard - till Comet finds his ball that he loves. Then when they come in they chase each other around the couch sometimes too. It’s good ❣️ ~ Carla & David

Louie
Happily Adopted!
Things are amazing! Louie is the sweetest, happiest dog ever. I’m smiling as I type this. He loves everyone and is such a gentle guy. He wants love all the time and he definitely gets it. If one of us isn’t laying on the floor with him, another one of us is. We allow him on the furniture but he seems to prefer the floor. He likes the hard wood. He finally found his sleeping spot at night. He didn't like his dog bed and he’s on an old quilt with a bunch of blankets under it. He loves it and is sleeping through the night. He has a walk around the block twice a day. We learned that we have to pay attention because if he sees a bunny or squirrel he will try to run and he is very strong. He is still coughing a few times a day, but it seems to be mostly when he gets excited. He’s getting all his meds and has an appointment at our vet on May 4th. Our whole family is so happy and in love with Louie. We can’t believe how lucky we got and we are so grateful to Sunshine! He is the best boy! ~ Karen & Rob

Cord
Happily Adopted!
Cord, now Stowe, is settling in nicely. He even got to see some snow today! He happily explored the yard and rolled in the grass. He let us know he needed to go out in the night and then happily settled back on his bed. He’s a little timid about new things and sounds, but we’re sure as he gets more acclimated he’ll be fine. He’s curious to check out Luna, but with a warning hiss he backed off and gave her space. We can’t wait to start some obedience training and summer adventures with our boy. Thank you for trusting him to us. Cord is such a little love! ~ Jennifer & Austin

Lars
Happily Adopted!
Lars is doing pretty well. He went to the vet yesterday. He is so little and skinny. He only weighs 41 lbs and his bones stick out pretty much. I can’t put him out in the yard anymore as he has discovered there are a lot of squirrels that he loves to chase and right now that is not allowed because of the heartworm case. He has been good about sleeping thru the night and doesn’t have to go out before 8. He wants to be petted all the time but that’s okay and he will gain more confidence. I brushed him and he loved it. He loves attention and is very friendly. He also is very gentle when taking a treat from your hand. So far so good. ~ Norma

Jerry
Happily Adopted!
Day 1: We have been home for a couple of hours and he is settling in nicely. We had a good ride home too. He loves his new backyard and tried to escape it as soon as we got home, but we fooled him, the gates were all locked. Day 3: He's starting to acclimate to our house. While he loves the backyard, he is still looking for an escape route. He follows Ed around and whimpers whenever he leaves the room. He wasn't eating, so I added a scrabble egg to his food. He liked it and he ate almost everything. He got up at 6 AM; we'll need to work on that! He is such a beautiful boy!
Day 6 We wanted to give you an update on Jerry. He is settling in really well. We went for a ride yesterday, got a pup snack, and then to the park. He is sleeping great now. He just loves his backyard and all of his toys. ~ Paula & Ed

Uncle
Happily Adopted!
Guinness (fka Uncle) is in his new home in CT. He made himself right at home next to me on the bed (my Golden Girl Jenny is also on the bed right behind me). He’s a goofball. Treats are for him and him alone! He’s a little rude in that area. Jenny is being very patient- such a good girl. The issue with his jaw makes his drinking very messy but that’s what mats are for 😉. I have to put them out to do their business on their own... if I go out with him, he won’t leave my side. Bottom line….he’s sweet and wonderful. Many thanks to Donna, Ava, and Guinness’s foster parents Mary and Mike, for making this happen. ~ Lynn

Valerie
Happily Adopted!
Lilly (fka Valerie) is settling in nicely. She is a bit jealous of our original Valerie (also an SGRR dog) at times but that will lessen over time, once
she realizes she is here for good! A bit nervous and pacing at first- exploring the house - she is going to be fine! Our original Sunshine dog, Valerie, seems to like her. We have scheduled a vet appointment for her and have a recommendation for a great trainer so life for this pup
will be good! She is so sweet! Thank you again for all you and your volunteers do in connecting rescues with new homes. We feel so fortunate! ~ Nancy & David

Wilma
Happily Adopted!
Initially Wilma was shy. She was not shy with our dogs. She already feels like a pack member. We worried about not peeing, but at 2 am she was comfortable enough to go. She goes to her crate, unasked, for rest periods. She is going for a walk today to meet my daughter's puppy, Piper. Wilma is a joy! Thank you so much for bringing her into our lives. ~ Patricia & Charles

Jake
Happily Adopted!
Jake, now renamed Jerry is adapting well, especially with his new brother Benny… (Yes we now have Ben and Jerry.) At their first meeting, Benny (FKA Loki at SGRR) was not very polite, but his attitude was quickly corrected. Actually, Jerry appears very intrigued with Benny and is now absolutely glued to his side. Jerry is extremely sweet and loves attention. He walks well on a leash, but will need a little more work. We have only had a few accidents in the house, but overall he understands he needs to go outside. Jerry has been very gentle with my 88 year old mother-in-law, and played very nicely with our neighbor’s 6 year old son. We are extremely happy with our new family member. He appears to be a great fit. Benny on the left and Jerry on the right in the picture. When on their walks, people ask us which one is the new dog. I respond with "the black one!" haha. Jerry is soooo sweet. We will keep you posted, but overall all is very well. Thanks to everyone at SGRR for making our adoption of Jerry possible. ~ Barbara & Steven

Teddy
Happily Adopted!
All goes well here as we get to know our new boy. He is such an easy going dog! We’ve got trips to vet and groomer lined up. He’s met a few of the neighbors (and their people) and he gets on well with them. He seems really happy and comfortable. One of the ways he says “I am good” is by bringing one of his toys to you. He just seems to like sharing them! John and I are so happy and I think Teddy is happy with his new situation too! ~ Deb and John

Salty
Happily Adopted!
Salty, now denali, is happily adopted and adjusting very well! He sits and gives paw without you even asking, & Loves his treats. He is using the 2 hounds harness which is teaching him to walk nicely on leash. Salty is making new friends (humans and dogs). Our neighbors are really happy we have adopted again. He enjoys his walks and seeing new things. Salty is fitting in with his family and his new home. Salty loves to be by our sides, and follows us to each room. He has beautiful dark brown eyes and a sweet deep bark. Thank you to everyone who helped in Salty’s journey!!! ~ Brian, Mary and Denali

Bella
Happily Adopted!
She's been super sweet. When we picked her up, she hopped right into the back seat, rearranged the bed we had in there, and settled right down. She could lose a bit of weight, so we've cut back on her kibble a bit. She has the most charming growly purr when she's relaxed - my sister has had Labs, and says that's a Lab trait. So far, couldn't be going better. ~ A & J

Hadley
Happily Adopted!
Teddy (fka Hadley) is still doing well. He continues to settle in slowly each day. He still gets a bit anxious coming into the house after being outside and he runs around for a few minutes before settling down. He also peed in the house a couple of times and it seemed to be when he was anxious. We connected with a trainer and he will be meeting with us next Friday. Teddy has gotten quite playful. He usually has all the toys all over the floor. He was bouncing around playing with the toys earlier while I was on a work call. We have gone on a few longer walks and seems to enjoy them and the chance to sniff. He has been hanging out in his crate sleeping during the day while I’m working. We have not scheduled the eye specialist yet but plan to do so today. I will let you know when we go and what they recommend. He gets around so well that I forget he has limited vision. ~ Nancy & Brian

Otis
Happily Adopted!
Otis is settling in pretty well. He had a very stressed first day, of course, but immediately loved his walks. He sleeps great and he likes his dog beds and toys (he chewed one the very first day). He loves his walks but I will need to do some work regarding the leash. He pulls (not super hard, but enough) and kind of veers all over the place. But once we settle into a regular route that should get better. He’s very relaxed in the house, wags a lot, and has liked everyone he’s met. He’s a confident little guy. He’s stays close to me on his dog bed when I’m watching TV or reading. I’ve patted the couch to see if he’ll come up, but no luck yet. My next project is seeing how he does with wood stairs. He’s put his paws on the bottom step a few times but hasn’t tried to go up. I’ve been sleeping downstairs with him thus far, but we’ll try upstairs tonight. I’ll report back. ~ Maureen

Sherri
Happily Adopted!
Daisy (fka Sherri) is settling in. She's eating and sleeping well. She LOVES to be outside and really enjoyed the snow yesterday. The cold doesn't bother her at all!! She does not want to come back inside! We have taken her on a 4 mile walk each day and she loves her walks. She does really well with the harness and leash. Working on potty training (which is why she has the slip lead on loosely in a picture). If she goes out for the purpose of doing her business and doesn't, we leave the slip lead on and hope she puts two and two together (plus we can grab her quickly if needed). Including a couple of pictures, she prefers the rug to her bed! Overall, she's doing very well and she's a really sweet girl!! ~ Jed & Peggy

Things are going well! She's beautiful & precious. Trying to keep the commands simple and so far after a few times, she seems to respond. I can't thank you enough because you changed my heart to adopt a black dog. I could just cry thinking about it because you gave me the chance to love again. I think she may grow up to look a lot like your beautiful Princess!!🥰 Thank you for everything!! We are in love! ~ Susan & Dennis

Ruby
Happily Adopted!
First Ruby is a love! It is hard to believe she has only been part of our family for two weeks. Her vet visit went well. She is not at all fearful at the vet. Her heart was fine. She was down three pounds. We have been walking her and using small reward snacks rather than large treats and limiting her food to about 1 3/4 cups per day until we get her weight down a bit more. The vet would like to see her closer to 70 lbs. She referred to Ruby as sweet Ruby. Ruby is still a bit of a pup as she will eat a pad of paper. So we are learning not to leave them on a table. She is doing well with commands - sit, stay, wait, and come. Her leash walking is better. She isn’t pulling like she used to. She has had a couple of play dates with another Golden. The family is away right now and I forgot to snap a picture. Ruby is in her forever home! We can’t imagine life without her. She likes balls and food puzzle toys. Stuffed dog toys are a challenge - waiting to find the stuffing and noisemaker. They last a day. But Kong toys seem to do better. She is great with the grand-kids! ~ Mary & Thomas

Iree
Happily Adopted!
Iree's family is thrilled to have her home. Patti let us know she is
adjusting unbelievably well. Iree was amazing in the car and walks like a champ. Patti did notice that Iree had some difficulty getting into the car, but they brought a ramp and that was great. Luckily they haveonly three steps to the house and had no problems. Iree is sleeping well at night and is just the most wonderful, loving, happy dog who has fit right in as if she has always been there. They will call her "Ree" which she answers to. Ree helps Jonathan in the kitchen, goes on energetic walks, is always with them, and they are thrilled with her. ~ Patti & Johnathan

Rhonda
Happily Adopted!
She is settling in. Rhonda, now Pippa, prefers the bedroom for sleeping. When I am cooking she disappears into the cozy bedroom. Wants what
she wants! Went to the veterinarian who loved her. Reviewed her leg
x-ray and does not think she is in pain. We will try Rimadyl for a couple weeks to address any inflammation in her leg and to determine if it would help her walk more comfortably. She kissed my neighbor Jim; met the cat next door. Uncertain about the potential danger associated with a bird bath during a walk. Thinks Canada geese may be trouble. Wonders about the dog upstairs who runs up and down...who is that dog??? She works from home with me and the first picture below is Pippa at her desk. Thank you ~ Lynn

Georgie
Happily Adopted!
Georgie woke me last night once barking. I thought oh no! I got up at 3 and took him outside. We were out just long enough to pee. He laid down in his bed, went back to sleep and did not get up till 8am. He ate really good again last night, put extra in his bowl and he cleaned it all up. He is good with my 2 dogs and when people stop by he lights up looking for attention. He is very good meeting people and very gentle. Georgie weighed in at 82 pounds!! I am thrilled, and riding in the truck with me was no problem. I think Georgie has had a tough enough time and he should stay right here with Rosie, Magic, and Me. When he came out of the Vet's office yesterday (they don’t let you go in with him) and saw me it was all I needed to know. He has picked me to live with! ~ Glenn

~ Glenn

Hailey
Happily Adopted!
She’s getting a little more comfortable being here so her puppiness is coming out more. I put my warm clothes out on my bed overnight so I can put them on quickly to take her out in the morning - I don’t like or trust tie- outs- and in the morning I saw she chewed the arm of my turtleneck. She sleeps on the floor for the most part overnight either on her mattress or the carpet but will come up for belly rubs and cuddles when she hears me stirring which I love! She definitely is all cuddly with me and if we’re watching TV she will expect to be petted and rubbed practically the whole time! She’s smart - she didn’t know “sit” just a few days ago and now she does. And she usually comes to me when I say “Here, Hailey”! She walks fast on the leash and will pull - I’m trying to start some loose leash training but she definitely has energy!! She is consistent with pottying outside - waits for me to put on all my gear because it’s so cold out. I’m not great at taking selfies - but we’re so happy! ~Maryann

Dancer
Happily Adopted!
Dancer, now Aengus, did great on ride home! He slept the whole time. He
is absolutely not a fan of the cold, but he did go potty outside. We started crate training last night. At first he didn't like the crate, but he settled in with some music playing and slept through the night. Tracy, you were so right about the food hound. We start him in the slow feeder which slows him down a lot. He plays ring around the bowl when it gets low (which is when I switch back to normal bowl). For now he wears a pair of old dog pajamas. They are still a bit big on him, but for now it helps keep him warm. We are ordering a jacket for him. Update - Aengus (formerly known as Dancer) is doing so well! He is such
a smart boy. He cried a little in the crate the first night, but playing classical music really calms him down. He has only had a couple of accidents in the house - he really is picking up on potty training. He sleeps most of the night. He is doing well with crate training. He likes going in, just working on when we leave the room. He is definitely going through his teething phase and loves stuffed animals and his frozen teething bone. He is quite the food hound, so the slow feeder has been great - it takes him a bit to eat and keeps him entertained. He doesn't mind going out now with his new Kelly green winter puffer coat. ~ Meghan & Sean

Dasher
Happily Adopted!
Dasher is doing great - I’m going to name him Arlo officially! His new big sister, Luna, and he get along very well. She seems super happy to have him here! He settled into the house and new atmosphere really well. Arlo even loves his new crate, and he has already taken a nap in it on his own. He is the softest, most handsome pup. He is so playful and so cuddley! I cannot wait to watch more of his personality unfold. ~ Kayla

Vixen
Happily Adopted!
Vixen has been officially renamed Cassiopeia aka Cassie, and she's great! She was quite lonely last night and cried a lot, but it was to be expected. Leon is already so happy to have a playmate. They bow to each other and she hops around. They both like to paw at each other too. We took her outside for a couple minutes and she loves the snow! She stuck her nose in it, tried to eat it and even took a stab at digging! We are looking forward to when she gets bigger so she can have a proper romp outside with Leon. She is a petite little girl. But I think their personalities are a good fit. Both are playful! Thank you for helping Cassie find us. She’s perfect! ~ Jody & Tom
