Happily Adopted!
She’s doing great and seems comfortable already! We did change her name to Caly, and she’s already responding to it. She loves to cuddle with us and loves all her new toys! ~ Rachel

Ella
Happily Adopted!
Ella, now Bailey is doing great! She has settled in and gets along well with her German Shepherd siblings. She loves to play ball with them, or on her own. She has even started to play a little with the cat. With teething in full swing, she also LOVES chewing and has lots of things to chew on. Over the past few days we have gone on car rides, had tandem chewing with her sister Koda, played fetch, she’s met a few people and loves giving hugs. We even had a few flakes of snow this morning, so between that and all the leaves, she is getting to be a real New Englander! Puppy classes will start soon. Bailey is a wonderful, sweet pup, and we feel blessed to have her. ~ Pam & Jay

Boomer
Happily Adopted!
We completed our first Petco trip where he selected his duck toy (among others) that hasn’t left his side. He also got a bath last night and really enjoyed wearing his bathrobe afterwards. He loves his toys, bed, his water bowl, ice cubes, and carrots. He’s a bit unsure about our elevator but was better today. He’s already a fan favorite of people and pups around the building. He’s been showered with gifts from his grandparents during their visits (pictured below with my mom Lorna- prior SGRR adopter!). We’re working through training on taking treats calmly and walking on the leash. Boomer has been absolutely perfect with his crate, gets right in and sleeps through the night, and no accidents inside! He’s also great in the car, goes right to sleep. ~ Jack and Meaghan

Loving her! She had a great first night. We walk around the neighborhood about a half mile each time and she already knows her way back to the house. She sleeps on her bed in my room and she is like velcro!....follows me everywhere. Thank you! ~ Marianne

Layla
Layla, on the right, with Scout.
Happily Adopted!
Layla’s intermingling with Scout is going well. No issues so far. We had our grandchildren over earlier and Layla was extremely excited as if her last family had babies or she was missing her litter. Layla is a real sweetheart but in some way she's still a stray at heart and will need training - but she's in the right place. She got her first grooming this morning and Layla did great. Oh, the chickens. Yeah, she really likes chickens, and squirrels. WOW. We live in the country so she's seeing lots of new stuff that sparks her interest. ~ Sharon & Tim

Sugar
Happily Adopted!
Cannoli (fka Sugar) has arrived and is doing extremely well! Ernie (her dog sibling) appears to adore her, absolutely no issues (so far). Will feed separately and she'll sleep in her crate for a bit while we settle in. She loves her new yard, rolls like crazy, has her first Northern grass stain and had the zoomies! She's so very sweet (hence the name) and affectionate too. ~ Michelle & Family

Carly
Happily Adopted!
Carly is adjusting beautifully. Loves to fetch the ball in the big yard or hang by the fence and watch people pass by. She's now eating well and taking walks on the leash. At the end of the day, she snuggles up with us on the couch. We are so happy to have found this wonderful girl! ~Barbara

Brooke
Happily Adopted!
Brooke’s new name is Penny! We feel very lucky we were able to adopt her, so she is our lucky Penny! She is making great progress! We took her to the park yesterday with Lia, and she loved it! Last night she some food and drank some water. She slept on our bed all night. When she went out this morning, she wagged her tail!!! She liked the couch in the office and a few other safe spots in the office while Barry worked today. Barry and Brett took turns taking her out on a leash in our backyard and then let her off and walked with her. She found a table on the patio to lie down under. We took them to the park again tonight and she loved it! She and Lia haven’t played yet, but that’s OK! The most exciting news of the whole day was when we were eating dinner! She was in the chair in the living room. We were out in the sun porch eating. She got up, came to the porch, and laid down under the table! Yay! She is very timid but super sweet! ~ Amy & Barry

Tillie
Happily Adopted!
Tillie is settling in nicely. Ted and Ginger (canine siblings) are a bit miffed at me, lol. Tillie is a bit cautious with Ginger but they are trying to play. Ginger grunts when she plays so I think it scares off Tillie. We go for walks around the neighborhood and she decided to sleep with me last night. So I had Ginger on one side and Tillie on the other. Thankfully Ted gets too hot on the bed! She's had no accidents, is eating all her food, and has started chewing on some toys. So she is getting more comfortable with all of us. ~ Kelly & William

Sassy
Happily Adopted!
All going well and she's settling nicely - you can consider her permanently adopted! She slept through the night next to my bed, and she had a bath this morning and did great. She's incredibly sweet and always seeking affection. The start of a beautiful friendship. All going
well - just working on our new routine. ~ Shannon

Gryffin
Happily Adopted!
Gryffin is doing well! He loves his new sister Sierra-he follows her everywhere. He slept really well both nights, right near our bed. Sierra and Gryffin slept right near each other in our bedroom. He’s eating well too, but he lets Sierra start eating first. He is still timid with John and I but that’s doing better too. He’s not quite sure what he thinks of the cats but they’re treating him well. He’s such a sweet gentleman! He met some new dogs and their people on our walk yesterday and everyone loved him. He's a very good boy! Thank you SGRR for everything you do.❤️ ~ Lucie and John

Nova
Happily Adopted!
We had an opportunity to visit the barn, went for a swim at home, a bath, and now we’re playing with Earl, Nova’s new brother. She’s doing great and has settled right in! I’m crating her at night because otherwise she will jump all over me and keep me up all night! She loves to eat the tomatoes off my tomato plants. She wants very desperately to play with Earl. He’ll play with her for a short period and then he goes and hides in his closet. When she’s tired, she goes and puts herself in her crate and lays down. She is a very good girl. She’s a keeper! ~ Marjorie

Stella
Happily Adopted!
Stella is doing great! She's definitely skittish in the house but today she did a big flight of stairs two times on her own - no coaxing! She loves to sleep with (or on top of!) my youngest daughter, and is such a snuggler. She still needs more leash training but she's doing great so far. She absolutely LOVES walks!!! We have many Goldens in our neighborhood so she is making lots of friends. She definitely lights up when she sees other dogs. She's not eating much and we have to hold the bowl for her to eat, so that's something we will continue to work on. All in all though, she's making great strides and is definitely a much-loved member of our family already!!! ~ Carolyn

Matt
Happily Adopted!
Skippy (FKA Matt) has found his forever home with Barb & Charlie! Skippy also got to meet Beth & Charlie’s son at foster Heike’s house and their son’s dogs (3 including a puppy). So Skippy had the opportunity to meet their grandson, son, and all the dogs. He was fine with it all! He was great in the car even though it was a very long ride. In the morning, Skippy stayed in bed with Beth until she got up and he waited a while for his breakfast. After a short walk they did some treat training in the yard and afterwards went with Charlie in the car working & meeting friends. Skippy is getting acclimated more and more as each day passes. He will go for a swim later today!

Rask
Happily Adopted!
This handsome boy came to us from a norther shelter after being turned in by a breeder. Rask was heartworm positive and will need to be kept on heartworm medicine for the rest of his life. He has been very resilient throughout all of his treatment and has found his loving, forever home
with his foster family, who have worked diligently to help him know he is now loved and safe.

Darla
Happily Adopted!
Darla is growing more comfortable each day since coming to her new home. She’s a very sweet girl who LOVES other dogs and is trying desperately to be friends with Boo, her kitty sister (We think Boo is slowly warming up to the idea). She still needs help with all of the sounds and strange people in the outside world but with the help of her trainer, she’ll be full of confidence before long. We look forward to watching her blossom! ~ Heather & Andrew

Sunny & Chester
Happily Adopted!
They are doing great! They are so adaptable. It's crazy given how much change they've been through. They seem nearly 100% house trained. Chester is less so than Sunny but they quickly got the idea that outside is the potty place. They are walking pretty well on leads. Sunny is not nearly as timid as I thought she would be. Rather, she seems to be sight sensitive. She catches movement (car, bike, person, squirrel, other dog, etc.) and then stands absolutely still to assess what it is. Feels more like a hunting behavior rather than fear. Chester on the other hand sniffs the ground continuously when we walk. It's like she is on the look-out and he is on the smell-out. If either finds something interesting, they let the other one know. They do everything together so they take a lot of comfort in that. Our yard is huge and they LOVE running around and wrestling every few hours. It has been a great way for them to channel their puppy energy. They are the easiest puppies in the world to train. We'll go to training classes next week mostly to socialize them as they are learning basic commands (like down) very easily. You tell them yes once and they get it. You tell them no once and they (mostly) get that too. Thank you so much! They are so wonderful. It feels really good to have dogs in our family again. ~ Deborah & John

Yvie
Happily Adopted!
Yvie is enjoying her new home and her new doggie siblings. She likes to go on walks and sniff all the new scents in her home. She enjoys her toys and running in the backyard with her doggie sibling Lola. She has found her spot in the house on a nice comfy dog bed under two windows. She is eating well, going on walks, car rides and playing in the yard.

Clover
Happily Adopted!
Clover, now officially ’Sophie’, has been phenomenal! She’s starting to eat better after we added some boiled chicken and rice to her dry food. We decided to test leaving her home alone last night with some light jazz music in the background, she did great! Cameras showed her in her bed and no ‘separation’ issues. She had a few visitors come meet her yesterday and she was perfect. Never barked or rushed the door when they arrived. She’s great on a leash, although she tends to zig zag a bit. 😊 Unless she calls you up and says ‘get me outta here, she absolutely has her forever home! She’s fantastic! ~ John & Linda

Jennifer
Happily Adopted in the South!
Jennifer is one of seven Mississippi Breeder dogs who came to Sunshine after spending years making puppies and living in neglectful conditions. Jennifer was shy and took the longest of the dogs to gain confidence. Happily, we have found her a loving forever home in the South.

Mushu
Happily Adopted!
Nina and Mushu, who had been separated while in foster care, are finally in their forever home together, as they were meant to be! We are finally all home safe and sound. They haven’t stopped playing since we got home at 5:30! They’re doing great! We are all in love with them already.

Lacey
ppily Adopted!
Lacey, one of seven Mississippi Breeder dogs, who came to SGRR after spending her life making puppies and living in subpar conditions, has been happily adopted. I always heard about "Velcro" dogs, but never experienced having one until now! Lacey, now Lily follows me everywhere and even pokes her head in the shower when I am in there! She is sweet, loving, and has wormed her way into our hearts! ~ Carol & Tim

Teddy
Happily Adopted!
Everyone is doing great. Teddy is settled in and running the house already. We walk 5 or more miles a day so we are both worn out lol. We are going to start with a trainer soon so hoping we can get started with his training. He is 1000% my Velcro dog now. Where I go Teddy goes, including pressed against the glass when I try to shower. Just a little kid being a little kid! We are loving every second with this goofy boy. 💗 ~ Cameron & John

Athena
Happily Adopted!
Athena is doing really well all things considered. She took to cuddling with us in bed her first night and sleeps right in the middle of Russ and me. She has such a sweet personality, and I just know she’s going to shine even more as she learns to trust us, and we continue to help build her confidence so that she isn’t afraid. We installed a temporary fence so that we can be outdoors with her off-leash and play ball (her favorite thing to do!). She loves to chill on the couch and watch tv and found her way to hang out in my home office for a couple of days this week. We’ve taken lots of walks, and she loves the country. We look forward to many adventures to come. ~ Dawn & Russell

Rose
Happily Adopted!
Rose is doing very well. She eats beautifully, walks on a leash no pulling but very nosy loves to say hello to everyone especially the kids on the block who love her in return and she had a good night sleeping in her bed. I left her this morning when I went to church and she was fine although very happy to see me when I returned. I love her and am so glad to have her, and my family has done nothing but shower her with attention which she just adores and which she deserves. Thank you for all your caring! ~ Joyce

Happily Adopted!
Xena, now Tessie, is doing well. She is slowly opening up to us and hopefully understanding the safe space she is in now. She is doing great on the stairs and going in and out of the house. She is not so sure of the car though, but we keep trying, esp with treats! She is very loving and playful. We hope to be working with a trainer this week. ~ Lauren & Andrew

Cinnamon
Happily Adopted!
Cinny is such a sweetheart. She is adjusting in small steps and getting more comfortable. She loves to steal our shoes and parade around with them for attention, lol. Not really interested in toys. Outside, she seems to be taking in the sounds and her surroundings. Listening to the birds and chased a couple of bunnies. So cute watching her as she processes it all. Certain noises will spook her. We have gotten her to run and do laps around our house and she loves it. She loves our neighbors and if she sees them outside, she instantly wants to go see them. She is great on a leash and she listens really well. We absolutely love this sweet baby! We just want her to feel comfortable and happy. ~ Betsy

Parker
Happily Adopted!
I think we are all adjusting well. He is absolutely precious. A big love bug! The car ride home was over 2 hours long. He was awesome! We had a ton of things in the house waiting for him. He ate and drank last night and had 2 good walks before bed. We had a dog bed in our room and Parker slept on it all night. He is a pleasure to walk. I took him on a long walk and had a great time. I love to walk, and he enjoys it. I got my first face kisses from him. He is a gentle giant, and we love him to pieces. We are so blessed to have him. ~ Randi & Phil

Griffie
Happily Adopted!
We got home about 2:15 Friday. Griffie slept all the way. We went for a little walk and I then had to go to the pharmacy. Griffie was wonderful; she sat in the car and looked out the window. She slept the first night and we went for a one-mile walk in the morning, and later a friend stopped by to meet her and she sat to be petted. Very nice manners. She is such a sweetheart. We are doing fine and it's because of the kind and caring ways of Foster Mary (Dempsey) and her husband Frankie. I'm so glad Griffie is here and I want her to know and feel that this is her forever home. ~ Teresa
Hanky
Happily Adopted!
Teddy (FKA Hanky) is adjusting great! Now that he has learned to go upstairs, he loves to be up there. He is very close with my husband and jumps on the bed to lay with him. He is learning to enjoy walks and follows Wyatt’s lead. He is sleeping much better at night. He sleeps in the living room with Wyatt either on the floor or on the couch. He loves to give us the paw without even asking for it. He also loves to grab socks to play with. ~ Danielle & Steven
Note: Teddy’s sister Mia was adopted by Danielle’s parents, so the two of them get to visit and play together!

Macie Grey
Happily Adopted in the South!
Macie Grey lived for years wandering around with a colony of feral kitties as her best friends. She found her way to Sunshine with the help of a Good Samaritan and is leaving her wandering days behind. She is looking and feeling prettier each day and has found her new forever home in the South!

Sadie
Happily Adopted!
Sadie has settled right in, loves to sleep on the couch, and is the sweetest dog! Garrett loves her and climbs up next to her to cuddle with her. Sunshine has done it again -- we always get wonderful dogs from Sunshine and Sadie is another--our fifth. Thank you all so much for saving them.

Coco
Happily Adopted!
Overall, things are going well. Coco has been great and has really adjusted to us and his new home. He is still pushing the limits at times, but we are working with him. Saturday we took him to the beach and then a dog friendly brewery. Yes, we will officially adopt Coco! Thank you for everything you have done to help bring us together. ~ Andrea & Joel

Happily Adopted!
We love our golden boy so much. He is the sweetest, most gentle and loving boy we have ever met. He loves running in the yard with his brother Tucker and his cousin Polly. He loves peaceful nights on the front deck and watches the world go by with his nose in the air to smell the breeze. He sleeps in our king sized bed and is the best cuddler for his firefighter dad who needs a nap after his 24 hour shifts. Some milestones he has achieved: walking 1-2 miles on a leash with Tucker by his side, jumping into the car by himself for car rides, walking up and down stairs with ease, potty trained (almost), and traveling to his grandma's house. He is such a beautiful soul who knows he has been rescued. Thank you to everyone who has helped along the way to get this boy to his forever home 🤍 ~ Emily & Philip

Rosie
Happily Adopted!
We are all doing very well. As you can see, Max and Rosie have bonded. Rosie is starting to eat reliably. The vet gave her a thorough exam and agrees with the steps you suggested, lower calorie food, thyroid twice a day, exercise as much as she can take. She loves the yard and sniffs around with good energy. She barks appropriately when someone comes to the door, won the affection of three of my friends who came to lunch, and accepts all the pets my carpenter can give. She is a dear. Thank you for this opportunity to share my life with her. ~ Mary Lulu

Fonzie
Happily Adopted!
He is a total love. His hugs and cuddles are awesome! He is gentle when jumping up to give a hug…unless he is in his “witching hour,” much like a toddler before bedtime. He suddenly becomes really energized around 8:30-8:45pm but settles down. Pretty funny actually.
He has been great on the leash, again, most of the time. I’m not sure how much exposure he has had to bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks…and now also wild turkeys and deer, but he gets a bit bonkers when those creatures are in the yard. We will have to do a lot of training around the notion of not chasing with full abandon. (Don’t worry, he’s always been on the leash, but my shoulder has gotten a workout!).e aims to please, is funny, affectionate, and just really sweet. He also quite enjoys his new collection of toys. My guess is that the sheer space and wildlife he has around him right now is bringing out his inner wonder and, thus, energy…so much to look at and be curious about. ~ Kim

Charlie
Happily Adopted!
Charlie is doing better than I thought. He is a shadow - whenever we move from a room, he follows. He enjoys his toys and loves to play. He enjoys our yard and doesn't mind the rain. He enjoys being dried off after he is been wet. ~Robert and Jeanne

Beau
Happily Adopted!
I am glad to report that Beau has adjusted well to his new home. We are spending quality time with him each day and evening. He has adjusted to his new home. While he would love him to sleep in our bed, we have provided him with his own bed and this is the place of comfort for his night time sleep. He is such a sweet and loving dog - it really is a pleasure welcoming him to our home. I will admit….He has a little “Marley” in him, if you remember the movie, Marley and Me!
We are so glad that he is now a part of our family. ~ David & Jane

He’s the BEST! Sophia and I are absolutely in love. He’s settling in well and is a joy to have at home. This picture is from his first day at work. He seemed to settle in quickly there as well and the entire staff went out of their way to spoil him and make him feel at home. ~ Helen

Ruby is an absolute dream!! We are so in love!! Thank you so much for everything! I hope it's not just beginner's luck, but she was an absolute perfect angel! She snuggled on the couch, played a little fetch and then slept on her bed in our room. She is just the sweetest girl on earth, and we are so thankful to have her! We are so in love, and she seems to be very comfortable with us and with our home. We did keep her name because it suits her so well. I have tons of pictures… we’re like proud parents showing them to everyone!! ~ Kerri & Jeff

Whisper
Happily Adopted!
All is going well so far! Whisper seems to be adjusting to his new environment. He lets us know when he needs to go out and he loves going on long walks! We’ve taken him to the local trail to socialize with other dogs/people and he’s done great walking on his leash. Working on not jumping, but he seems to be figuring it out. We learned he doesn’t like bicyclists and we heard him bark for the first time! LOL! ~ Tracy & Tom

Rio
Happily Adopted!
Rio liking to have a ball is fabulous. Neither one of my Goldens cared about them. Great exercise and maybe Isla will join. Rio was wagging his tail while swapping toys with Isla. Even sat for a biscuit as Isla and Roady were taught. Not every time, just on occasion when they know they don’t have to reach to it because it’s one for each…. He is getting more relaxed and checking everything out.

Hunter
Happily Adopted!
Hunter had a great night! He slept in Milo’s room with no complaints. I had to work this morning, and he was fine, just slept on Milo’s bed after I closed the door. We’ve gone back outside today to play ball and are about to take him and Tilly on their first walk together. He’s been very gentlemanly around the cats, and Matilda is helping him learn manners by being a good role model (he is doing sit, look, and drop it, since she’s demonstrated that’s when the treats come). Milo (son) would like to call him “Wembley” (after the Fraggle…one of the favorites when he was little). ~ Beth & Philip

He will help Brandy a lot, she was having a blast and the best part is that he LOVES my husband! I'm hoping that Riley will help Brandy be more accepting of him. ~ Kathy & Carmine

Feyra
Happily Adopted!
Day number 3 with our wonderful girl Sierra fka Ferya. She’s such a sweetheart. She loves being out in the yard, sniffing all the new smells. She loved the mud after the rain but didn’t know what to do with the snow! Sierra is getting along well with the cats, with one of them sitting on the sofa with her. She slept well in our bedroom in her new bed with 2 of her toys. She's settling in with her being with us, she did well on a long walk at the rail trail but would stop whenever someone was coming our way, as though she wanted to be sure it was Ok. We are so grateful for SGRR uniting Sierra with us! We’re so lucky to have her! ~ Lucie & John

Kenzie
Happily Adopted!
Her pictures are either at the beach or lounging on furniture. She’s definitely ours. She loved having our kids here. It will take work to communicate better (I think she was VERY well trained, she just hasn’t felt at home to listen) and help her behave like she can, but we start work with the trainer next week. Thank you! She’s not what we wanted but just what we need. ~ Beth & Tim
