Jesse - Happily Adopted!
Sweet little Jesse is a black and tan Dachshund (mix?) who is thought to be no more than 1 year old. She is buddies with Gus, another Dachshund-looking dog, who is being boarded and cared for at the same vet's office as she is. Jesse weighs about 21 lbs and has a gentle personality. While she is not as shy as some Karla's Kids are, she is a bit reserved until she gets to know you, but Jesse is becoming more and more used to being around people. Our photographer shared, "She didn’t want to leave my side. You could tell she wanted to get in your lap."
In typical "Doxy" fashion, Jesse can often be seen with her nose to the ground, sniffing in all the wonderful smells of the day. She was a big fan of the cheeseburger that Lisa, our lead southern volunteer, brought her. We can almost hear her saying, "Yes, I do want fries with that!"
Jesse was one of the lucky kids who tested negative for heartworms, so frequently prevalent in the bayous of Louisiana. It is a MUST that Jesse is kept on Heartguard brand preventative for at least 1 year, no generics, no substitutions. After that time, another heartworm preventative can be considered. A physically fenced yard is required for Jesse and a canine companion in her adoptive home is strongly preferred. With time and patience. this cutie pie will become and wonderful and loving companion!
Jesse has been spayed, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, and is micro-chipped. If your specialty is TLC and you are approved to adopt through SGRR, contact Donna to be considered to adopt this cutie patootie. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered. Jesse can come north to be adopted in early February.
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.
