Mickey - Adoption Pending!
Oh Mickey, you little heart-throb, you! Just look at that face! Mickey has all the features of a Golden Retriever... all except for one - his unique coloring! Mickey wound up with very cool white markings when the DNA went round and round in the mix! We think they make him incredibly unique and very endearing!
Mickey is a shy boy initially, like most dogs who come from hoarding situations. He sits quietly while you pet him and is learning that affection is something he can expect to have from this point forward in his life. When our Lisa took Mickey outside, his tail was wagging and he was hopping around with happiness. He even gave one of the kennel workers kisses all over her face. He's come so far in the few weeks that he has been with our rescue. In time, Mickey will become a wonderful companion and will learn about being treasured.
Mickey LOVES squeaky toys and his favorite one is this spotted stuffy. He will play for hours with his toys - chasing, tossing, pouncing, squeaking, and then doing it all over again! He walks very nicely on the leash, something his shelter advocate worked on with him extensively. When she came to visit him at the vet clinic, Mickey was over the moon to see her and showered her with kisses. Now, all Mickey needs is a person (or two or three) of his own to love.
Mickey is about 12- 18 months old and weighs about 70 lbs. He has been neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is micro-chipped. He will be headed north to be directly adopted in mid-July. If your specialty is TLC and you are approved to adopt through SGRR, contact Donna to be considered to adopt this adorable man. If not yet approved, please fill out an application to be considered.
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to take on whatever comes with the dog. It is up to YOU to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.
