Rio - Adoption Pending!
For those of us who love our dogs like family, it's hard to imagine how a stunning and affectionate Golden Retriever like Rio became homeless. Yet here he is with our rescue, seeking his forever home.
Rio is the epitome of an easygoing, affectionate, people-loving Golden Retriever. This tall and handsome fellow seems to prefer sitting (and being petted and adored) or lying down (for belly rubs) to just about anything else in the world.
Our southern volunteer shares, "My favorite trait of his is when he’s lying down for a belly rub, he braces his back paw against the wall “to help me” so i won’t stop rubbing his belly I suspect! He walks fine on a leash and is not in any hurry as he ambles along. He possesses an old soul and a gentle temperament. His classic patience and sweetness are what attracts so many to Golden Retrievers. He’s got that cool, chill vibe down pat!" Check out his video with his Rachel Ray Soup Bone.
Rio is estimated to be around 7-9 years old and weighs about 75 lbs. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. He is under treatment for heartworms and has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. Rio is good with other dogs, but has no known history with kitties.
Please contact Mary if you are approved to adopt through SGRR and would like to make this Southern gentleman a part of your life! If not yet approved, please fill out an application. He will be ready to come north to be directly adopted in late September.
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun.
