This is sweet Captain who was turned into a kill shelter in Louisiana, SGRR was contacted and Captain was saved!
Captain has a wonderful new home with Jay and Laureen and their family and making his forever home in Connecticut. Laureen tells us that Captain is doing fantastic. He has put on about 10lbs and he is healthy and happy. Captain went through six weeks of dog/people training and everyone did great! He is such a good boy! He loves his new house, new yard and his new family and they LOVE HIM! Captain goes for lots of walks and he goes to doggy day care and plays with other dogs as well as dogs in the neighborhood. Captain has socialized so well and loves everyone! Well everyone except for their Chihuahua Harp. They are still warming up to each other. Captain tries, but Harp is now about 11 years old and really wants no part of him. Hopefully in time they will become buddies! Happy life to Captain! Laureen and Jay say they cannot imagine their lives without him!

This handsome boy is Ollie who was found wandering around a parking lot in Alabama. Thankfully SGRR was called and Ollie has a wonderful new home with Rebekah and Matt and their family and living in Connecticut.
Rebekah tells us that Ollie is such a joy! They love him so much. Their cats have adapted to him so well! They love his personality from him following them around every single place they go in the house, even if it is only 2 feet away from where they were, or him backing his butt into them. He is so curious on his walks around the neighborhood. He is great on a leash, he heels well without any prompting, he sits on command. He is eating well, he never begs for human food not that they have given him any. He is just all around the best dog to be around. They are so happy that he is part of their family. Happy life to Ollie! How happy does Jenna look! Poor Jenna was brought as a stray to the Tuscaloosa, AL animal shelter and as no one came to claim her SGRR stepped in and saved her. Jenna has a wonderful new life Caitlin and Matthew and living in Massachusetts! As you can see by these awesome pictures Jenna is living the BEST LIFE EVER!
Caitlin and Matt tell us that they have nothing but gratitude for SGRR and all they do for dogs in need! They reached out to SGRR after losing both their goldens to cancer this past year. At first they thought that they would be too heartbroken to bring another dog into their home, but in the end the quietness killed them(heartbreaking). Jenna is their first rescue and they had no idea what to expect but they knew they had plenty of love to give. Jenna has surpassed all their expectations in so many ways and has helped to mend their broken hearts. They said it is almost like Jenna knew they needed love as much as she needed it too. Jenna has never met a stranger that she did not love and has a fondness for children, smothering them with kisses. She eats like a horse and has taken well to her home training. She no longer counter surfs, drinks out of the toilet or jumps on new people out of excitement, good girl Jenna! She knows sit, paw, lay down and wait. They had looked into other training but with covid it has been difficult. Her leash manners and recall while distracted could use some improving, but they got the easy walk harness and that is helping. Jenna is quirky in all of the right ways and they could not be happier to take her with us on all our adventures. Jenna does have allergies and is seeing a dermatologist who has a plan, fingers crossed for this sweet girl. Once Jenna settles in more they hope to be looking for a companion for her as she loves all the dogs she meets! WOW, what a nice update! Jenna you are so lucky and you so deserve it! This is Cooper FKA Flynn with his big sister Shelby, are they adorable or what!
Cooper was found in a swampy area in Alabama at a place where people tend to dump unwanted dogs (we will never understand this!) Cooper has a wonderful new home with Nicole and Jason and living in New York! Nicole tells us that Cooper is doing great and he acclimated very quickly and they are so pleased as to how well Cooper and Shelby are getting along! It was really a perfect match, as they love to cuddle and they do a lot of playing and keeping each other busy. Cooper is eating well, he is very smart and doing well with training! Happy life to Cooper and thanks to Shelby for being the best big sister! How cute is Ollie FKA Chitto, who was found along with his Mom Tater FKA Halona. Ollie is making his forever home with Karen and her family and is also a prior adopter and is living in Massachusetts!
Karen and Monte tell us that everyday they say that they hit the jackpot as Ollie is a love and very affectionate. Daily walks around the neighborhood and in the park are keeping everyone in shape. They had a Halloween parade in October and Ollie was dressed as a crossing guard, just adorable! Ollie loves frozen carrots, he responded very well to training. When he goes for a walk he gets a toy, and leaves it by the door, and he is so excited when they return and he finds the toy is still there, LOL. They have traveled to Florida for the winter and he has settled in nicely and traveled well. Lucky dog! Everyone comments on how handsome he is and they feel so lucky to have him! They are looking to many adventures and many years with Ollie! Happy life to Ollie! This beauty is Tater FKA Halona, who along with her son were found on Native American land near Atmore, AL belonging to the Poarch Creek Nation, and although no one claimed them Tater has a wonderful new home Barbara and Howard and living in Massachusetts.
How beautiful is Tater, who is indeed the energizer bunny having total captured her Dad's heart! (And despite the Covid, the hearts of their Grandaughters hence the name Lucy Two). They adored walking her and tossed the ball for her for HOURS (hence the name Mookie Betts LOL, who is a former Boston Red Sox outfielder) Tater has completed an intensive one on one training program for basic doggie manners, and after her second course of heartworm treatment she will begin a 2nd course on leash manners prior to starting her Canine Good Citizen training. She is an A plus pupil.... when the spirit moves her! She is starting to fill out on her tail, and her fur is becoming soft and shiny. She is adapting to the Boston cold, the Boston accent(I don't think we have an accent in Boston I think everyone else does LOL). Tater loves the snow. She is the only one of Howard and Barbara's 4 adopted SGRR golden's (WOW) that has made snow angels!!! She also howls with the fire engines! ![]() How happy does Buddy look! Buddy is making his forever home with Barbara and her family in New York. Barbara tells us that Buddy is doing great! She said he is the sweetest dog ever and very polite! She said she could not have asked for a more perfect dog! He is walking much better, as in the beginning he was very fearful and timid and would only walk to the end of the driveway and then pull her right back into the house. He seems startled by sudden noises, like her American flag outside her house he is fearful of that. He was crouching and crawling sometimes, but now walks further and further down the street. Barbara said she has the most wonderful dog walkers that take incredible care of Buddy, they send her pictures and keeps her up to date on things and he is never left alone for more than 4 hours at a time. Sadly Barbara had a death in the family in November and was gone for 12 days and the walkers and her daughter's friend stayed overnight and Buddy did not skip a beat. Her kids love him! There is no shortage of love and affection with everyone. Her Vet loves him! The only thing that makes her sad is that he doesn't really know how to play, no balls, no toys. Barbara said Buddy seems as happy to be with her and she is being with him! Happy life to Buddy! |
