This is Otis FKA Coffee when he was not too sure what that white stuff was. Otis has a wonderful new home with Hadley and Anthony. Otis had been turned in by his former owner for economic reasons. Hadley and Anthony tell us that Otis is doing really well eating and getting used to their routines. They are waiting to hear back about some obedience classes that they will attend with Otis. They think it will be a good and a wonderful bonding experience for all of them. Happy life to Otis!

This handsome boy is Chance who was a northern turn in. Chance has been adopted by previous adopters Ellen and Jack.
Ellen and Jack tell us that Chance is a very sweet boy and he has never met a person he did not like. He loves to lean into you for some chin rubs. The other day he walked right up to a perfectly strange toddler during the walk, and let the toddler pet him! He does not seem to like when other dogs are approaching or being overtaken. They walk a good two miles a day and they often meet other dogs, they are thinking that Chance was not socialized with other dogs, but he is as gentle as can be with their 14 year old cats. He did well with the vet and the groomer. They are starting training this month! How handsome does Chance look in his blue coat! Happy life to Chance! Another great update!
This is Harry who was found tied out in his backyard in the south, his owner had tragically passed away inside the house and Harry was in terrible condition by the time he was discovered. He had been out there for weeks, during Hurricane Sally and without food and water! Thankfully Harry has a wonderful new home with Annie and Marion. Annie and Marion tells us that there are not enough words to express just how much they love their sweet and handsome boy Harry. He has been with their family for almost 4 months and he is just thriving. He is a great sleeper, adores his four-legged siblings, loves all creatures and humans, especially his Moms, gobbles his food and sniffs every inch of grass on his walks. But most importantly, Harry is no longer broken. Of all the dogs that they have rescued from SGRR, he was in really rough shape both mentally and physically. They immediately gave him lots and lots of hugs, patience and kisses (and they have not stopped) and within a week, his tail started wagging! Within a month, he started walking further, had more energy and gained 6 pounds. Now his tail is constantly wagging, and he is starting to play a little with his siblings, weighs 50lbs, his fur is growing in and gives lots of love to Annie and Marion. He is HAPPY and LOVED. Annie and Marion would like to thank everyone for all they do to bring these amazing dogs into our lives. They are forever grateful! They hope you like the pictures of their sweet, loving and handsome boy Harry! Thank you Annie and Marion and all are adopters for all the love, patience and time that you give to these beautiful and handsome dogs! Happy life to Harry! This is beautiful Cooper who is making his forever home with Noreen and Lawrence. Noreen tells us this picture is a rare moment of quietude as Cooper watches the sunrise. Note as this past week was St. Patrick's Day you can see the colors of the Irish flag - green and orange on his harness and his leash! February was a BIG MONTH for Cooper. He marked 4 months living in his forever home, he turned one on the 12th of February and he graduated from puppy kindergarten! Kindergarten was a great experience for Cooper, Noreen and Larry. They learned that Cooper who they thought had no training but as Cooper progressed they realized that he quickly grasped the "inside" task like sit, down, go to mat. However, he had zero leash walking skills, preferred to be outside rather than inside, and never learned that nipping humans is not the way to engage them in play behavior. So they are now signed up for Graduate Puppy Class and doing well! Noreen thinks that Graduate Puppy 2 class may be in their future. Noreen tells us that she and Larry have raised and fostered Goldens since 1973 and Cooper is by far the most vocal. They are greeted with joyous "dog songs" all day long - upon awakening, coming home for lunch, a new toy, an old toy that was forgotten and rediscovered, and yet he can be beautifully composed, still, and alert - a perfect companion as pictured above. They are grateful to Sunshine and the for the chance to love and enjoy Cooper and watch him grow into a great dog. Cooper is so lucky to be in his forever home with Noreen and Larry! Happy life to Cooper! This is sweet Millie who was found on one of our volunteer's friend's farm in AL. Millie is making her home with Joseph and Michele. Joseph tells us that sweet Millie is a tough little girl as she had to be in order to survive in the wild. Joseph says that Millie seems very happy now and fairly well adjusted to city life. She still does not like motorcycle sounds, and gets scared when she hears them. Millie does not like the cold weather (glad spring is coming) but she thinks that the snow is cool and edible. She has put on some weight as her ribs no longer show so prominently . They have been doing some training with her, which she likes because Millie loves getting treats, She is a Velcro dog as she follows them around where ever they go at home. She loves to curl up beside them and sleep. It took several days before they heard her bark, and it is the sweetest, softest hoarse little bark. It is rare that she does bark. She loves her toys and brings them into the living room and works diligently on them and she especially loves treat dispensing toys. Michele and Joe just love Millie and they think she is realizing that she is in her forever home. Such a great update on Millie! Millie so deserves this! This is handsome Remy who was found by a kind lady in Louisiana. She kept Remy in her home during his shelter home. Although no one came to claim Remy he has a wonderful new home with Kimberly and Thomas.
Kim tells us that Remy is doing wonderfully. They feel like Remy has always been a part of their family forever! They love him so much even when he is a total devil!!! He is lucky he is so cute! Remy has adapted to his new routine, he is eating and sleeping well. Especially the eating part! They have been working with a trainer since they adopted him, which has been a great resource for them. He has mastered sit, lie down, crate, paw and wait! They are still working on "leave it" with other dogs and squirrels. He is a quite excitable little puppy who likes to jump up off all four legs into the air. It is quite something, their trainer is wondering if he has a smidge of a border collie in his genetics? He is crate trained and often sleeps in his crate for his naps, and also overnight with the door open so he can move around their room. They leave him in the crate when they have to leave him alone, which he still does not love. He mostly just sits and stares while they are gone with an occasional sad little howl(which they were able to see on the Furbo). Poor Remy! They hope the more they practice leaving him alone for a bit and coming back so that he learns that we will always come back for him. He absolutely loves to play, especially with other dog. He does need to learn some playing manners. Kim said she does not think Remy learns how big he is! He is a bit of an oaf - ha ha! He barks as he is wary of tall men and they are working on that also, but Remy does not know that! They could not be happier to have Remy as part of their little family and cannot thank SGRR enough for bringing him to them. Love the picture of Remy holding his brush! Happy life to Remy! This beauty is Koda who lived with his former family since he was a puppy. His Mom and Dad moved to the Northwest and left Koda in the care of his grandparents, and they realized that Koda needed more activity than they could give him.
Koda has a wonderful new home with Gary and Barbara. Gary tells us that Koda is doing fine, and he eats very well and is always looking for food, which sometimes includes "counter surfing" which they are working on. Koda is active, but with the weather and snow they are not in the backyard too much, although he loves the snow and tries to take the shovel away from Gary while he is shoveling the driveway.... he has to constantly play. As he was from the Mobile area it is likely Koda did not see much snow, at least not this amount! They are still kind of keeping Koda quiet after his heartworm treatment. With the weather getting a little nicer, they walk a few miles everyday and does not go crazy upon seeing other dogs. He is well behaved in this sense and knows the immediate neighborhood. He is strong and loves tug of war with anything! Gary said he will have to change this but with the COVID and working from home on his laptop, sometimes he has no choice than to play tug of war with his left hand. Happy life to Koda! |
