This handsome boy is Wyatt, FKA Sundance. Wyatt is making his forever home with Cindy and John and living in Long Island.
John tells us that Wyatt is fantastic! He is getting less mouthy (those puppy teeth) and they all adore him. They took him to their cabin, which was a 12 hour drive, and he was great in the car and at the cabin. He walks between 4-7 miles each day and he is always leashed. Wyatt sleeps in his crate each night and generally goes in voluntarily, although sometimes a treat is needed to coax him. He also swims (leashed) with them in Long Island Sound and he is quite a good swimmer. John tells us that Michael Phelps would be jealous!!! Wyatt can sit, give paw, lay down, stay, and roll over. Their vet says that "everyone wants a Wyatt". John says that some people think Wyatt won the lottery, but they feel they are the winners! John and Cindy send their regards to everyone at SGRR. Happy life to all - we think the whole family won the lottery!

How happy does Biscuit look? Biscuit was found running alongside a road and no one came looking for him at the shelter.
Biscuit is making his forever home with Brian and Patricia and living in Long Island. Patricia and Brian tell us that Biscuit is doing wonderful and say that he is such a joy! He has been making lots of dog friends and is so friendly. He is definitely a cuddle bug! Brian and Patricia had to delay their wedding because of the pandemic, but they did have a small backyard wedding. Maybe when they have their planned wedding they can have Biscuit as part of the wedding, like Dorian and Chris did with Millie! Happy life to Biscuit and congratulations to Patricia and Brian on their wedding! How pretty is Ally? Ally, FKA Victoria, is making her forever home with Charlene and Tom and living in VT. Ally was found wandering on a busy road and no came looking for her at the shelter. Charlene tells us that Ally is doing great! They found out recently that she LOVES to swim. They had bought her a kiddie pool and she was not interested at all. But they were at a friend's camp and she was being walked by the water with her ball in her mouth and the next thing they knew she was in the water, swimming, leash, ball and all! They were quite surprised to see her in go in the pond and swim like a natural. All of Ally's hair has grown back and she is a beauty inside and out. They just love her! Happy life to Ally! How adorable and bonded are Captain Jackpot and Eleos (the Greek goddess of mercy and compassion)? Captain Jackpot and Eleos where found as strays in Florida and although no one came and claimed them, they have a wonderful new home with Jane and Leslie and living in MA.
Jane and Leslie tell us that they are doing great! They are settled in and enjoying life. Leash walking is a challenge but they are working on it. They have a large backyard (fenced in) and they love running around and playing back there everyday. They have lots of energy. Their vet thinks Captain Jackpot is probably almost 2 years old and Eleos about a year and a half. So they both have a bit of "puppy" left in them. But they are a lot of fun and are learning some new commands like "wait" (before charging out the door to go out) and "get your baby" (so they have something in their mouths rather than their hands) and "leave it" (to keep them away from things that they should not touch)! Jackpot should have learned that one about a month ago as he quietly absconded with a half of ear of corn from the kitchen counter on a Sunday night which resulted in a trip to the emergency vet. It all turned out fine, but it has caused them to be extra vigilant about things in his reach. Captain Jackpot is a tall boy and it does not take much effort for him to grab things which would normally be in a high place. As you can see from the pictures they are sill extremely attached to one another. They sleep on the same bed, even though there are many scattered around the house, and some of the rooms have multiple beds. But they choose to lay on one together, always. If one pup is outside or if they are separated at all they will cry and carry on until they are reunited. They expect this will change over time as they become more comfortable and confident. They have had bonded pairs in the past and know this is normal behavior. Jane and Leslie tell us that Captain Jackpot and Eleos are a wonderful addition to their family and they are so happy that they are there! They appreciate all SGRR does! This is handsome boy is Beacon, formerly knows as Gino, who ended up as a stray in Mobile County, AL. Although it was sad no one came to claim him, he has an awesome new home with Jordana and Ben and living in MA.
Beacon is named after Beacon Hill in Boston, MA. Jordana tells us that she grew up with rescues and has had to remind Ben that usually they are not this easy like Beacon is. Beacon usually chills near them when they are working but perks up when they are ready to play or take him for a long walk. The first few weeks were all about getting him used to city life with so many noises he never experienced, but he acclimated so well. Beacon goes where they go and they love to take him on long walks on the Boston Common or down by the Charles River. He plays with his cousins and fellow pups Rigby (formerly Cookie), Gus (formerly Copper), both SGRR rescues, and Willow (DVGRR rescue). He has the best Grandma, Jordana's mom, Nancy, who is a SGRR volunteer, who helped them when Beacon came north. Beacon is not an all star eater, but notoriously speeds things up if they sprinkle a bit of liver treats in his food or if one of his dog cousins are around. He loves getting brushed and does not mind nail trimming, but is not a fan of getting his teeth brushed. They are working on getting him more comfortable with getting his teeth brushed because he likes to cuddle and be close to them! Ben and Jordana joke that Beacon has seen more states than they have, as he was picked up in AL, fostered in FL and driven to CT to come to Boston. He has spending his weekends taking trips all around the east coast (including Mass, Maine, New Hampshire, CT, NJ, and NY). Recently he joined them for a country road trip from Boston to San Diego! She thinks the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs was his favorite (see picture). Jordana and Ben would like to that SGRR for bringing Beacon into their lives, they love him more and more every day! This is beautiful Pearl who is making her forever home with repeat adopter Norma and living in New York. Norma tells us that Pearl is doing great. They are at the family camp in the Adirondacks and she has people and dogs to play with and a lake to swim in. Another Sunshine dog living the life and Pearl so deserves it! This is Casey, now called Gabbi, who once was a stray in Mobile County Alabama. Although no one came to claim this beautiful girl she has a wonderful new home with repeat adopters Stacey and Ryan in CT. Stacey tells us that there is so much she could say about Gabbi as she is a wonderful dog. Part of what makes her so funny is she will go from being serious and shy to totally playful and nuts in the blink of the eye. She loves to grab a toy and run around their home like she is on a race track. In fact as she was writing this, she said Gabbi just went zooming by! She has done great with other dogs and kids. No accidents since they got her. She saidt hat the first time that they go away after the pandemic their families will fight over who gets to dog sit because everyone loves her so much!!! She has an unbelievable appetite and Gabbi is very food motivated; that it has worked wonders with some of her training. They did a few private training lessons to work on leash pulling and now their big focus is separation anxiety. They have not been able to leave her alone yet for more than a few minutes before she starts crying and barking like crazy. The trainer and the vet have been helping with suggestions so hopefully they will make some more progress soon. She is incredibly attached to them which Stacey says is so sweet but she wants Gabbi to reach a point where she is ok when they leave. They would like to thank everyone at Sunshine for bringing wonderful Gabbi to their home. They hope to rescue another dog in the coming years! This is handsome Marley who is making his forever home with Emily and living in Massachusetts.
Emily tells us that Marley is FANTASTIC!. She said he is such a love and very sweet. They absolutely adore him. He goes to doggie play group a couple of times a week for a few hours each time, and has made some buddies. Marley and Rosie(the cat) take turns annoying each other but have settled on a mostly peaceful coexistence. Marley sleeps at the end of the bed next to Emily's feet at night and Rosie sleeps by Emily's head! So sweet! Marley does have some separation anxiety but it is getting a little better. It is hard to consistently get out of the house when everyone is at home all the time. He loves going for walks and gets so excited when he sees his leash. He is such a pleaser, too, and works so hard for them. He is great at sit, stay, wait, all done, quiet. They are hoping to get him on the paddle board with them in the coming weeks. His hair is filling in but he is still a head turner on his walks! They are so happy that Marley is with them. They cannot imagine home without him! The white golden is his friend Baxter! Happy life to Marley! Auggie was our first sunshine dog. He was found near a hunting camp in Alabama. Look at that face, who would leave him? Someone who thinks of dogs as property instead of family. He is still with us and just turned 16*! (*He is between 15-17 years old)
Then Golden-Hearted Ash joined our Sunshine Family. He was a stray in Alabama. When nobody claimed him Lisa from Sunshine swooped in knowing he would fit into a family with a Golden. These goofballs have been inseparable ever since. Our lives changed forever by Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue From Wendy Fritz & Family This cutie is Lily who ended up in a shelter in Tuscaloosa, AL. Lily is making her forever home with foster failures and repeat adopters Belinda and Hap and living in Mystic, CT.
Belinda tells us that Lily is doing good. She is still very timid and nervous, but she has fallen in love with Hap and is truly his shadow! When Hap comes home from being out, Lily literally jumps all four feet off the floor, spins in circles, her tail wags and then goes into a complete spiral and she yelps with joy. WOW, we think she loves her Daddy! Lily has a long way to go, but she has come so far. Their Vet is wonderful and they are hoping for the groomer soon. Each tiny step forward is celebratory. It has been a long time since they had a young dog, but they enjoy watching her zoom around the yard and the ball. Belinda said she is a sweet little girl and they are so blessed to have her! Happy life to Lily, you deserve it! |
